Shortening Bumpstops

Post by latief » Thu Mar 12, 2009 9:31 am

Do you have to shorten bumpstops when lowering moderately? and if not, will it be noisy for not doing that ?

these are srt-4 struts with Eibach-pro kit .....

I know that OB's how-to shows that, but i am wondering if it is necessary or not, and how often will the strut bottom-out so to speak? :tardbang: i have not been in a lot of lowered cars ........

thanks,

The pro kit springs aren't super low, but the rear will bottom out from time to time since the rates are so low. Cut the rears in half and you'll be golden. The front never hit on me with those springs, but if you go any lower expect to have to cut the fronts as well. It's not noise you're trying to prevent, it's sheer pain. When you hit bumpstops, the whole car feels like it's gonna split in half. It's the equivalent to driving with no springs at all. Mine hits in the front from time to time with the TEIN springs, even cut down to 3/4". Sometimes it'll hit so hard my rearview mirror will be looking at the floor from the shock. Welcome to the wonderful world of suspension tuning!

The pro kit rides great, not as bad as you'd think. Have you already installed the suspension or is it still out?
