fuel injectors location

Post by Xtian » Sun Mar 15, 2009 4:39 am

I've looked throughout the forum and posts, but can't really find pictures of where exactly are the fuel injectors located, I just got all 4 new ones, because 1 of them is causing issues lately, could someone post up pictures where they are located? thanks!

I had to steal a picture from NeonOn19s, but I circled the injectors in yellow. The chrome little pipe is your fuel rail, that connects directly to the 4 injectors. That is the r/t engine, but the location of the injectors are the exact same. Hope that helps

I was about to say... how can you miss them?.. unless you have a cover they almost jump out and bite you in the face when you open the hood

We were all noobs at one point, but they are pretty easy to spot. Now comes the fun part of swapping them out, should be an enlightening experience. We all had to learn somehow.

Are you putting in those SRT injectors I think you posted about? Make sure they are stock Neon injectors.

Oh, and by the way, they're pretty simple to do. Don't worry.

It's no big deal, I thought it'd be a royal PITA to do when I did them, and it took all of 3 minutes to do!

Just clean around them before removing, and use a dab of oil on the o rings when inserting. Clip them to the rail first, then push into the manifold.

Oh, and the cover just pulls off. Also pull the red locks up on the connectors, or you will not get them to unclip. Mine are so brittle half of the retainers have broken off.

What's this about SRT injectors?

Absolutely do not use SRT injectors in a non SRT.

You will dump SOOOOOOOOOOO much fuel into the engine. It will flood and I wouldn't be surprised if it would actually hydrolock from the fuel.

Get 19lb injectors. SRT's are something like 40 or 45lb.

Christian, we're not bashing. Well, maybe Kelevra is. But really, you don't want that much fuel dumped into your engine.

I'm only bashing 'slightly' only because he was warned that it will not work and/or work horribly but refuses to listen and go on the 'Well it's my car I do what I want' :slap:

Please take these guys advice, they are being extremely nice and telling you the truth. On any other forum you would have been bashed, flamed, and made fun of for what you're about to do.

Your PCM does not know what size injectors you are using, therefore it will dump massive amounts of fuel into your combustion chamber.

Have you ever heard of cylinder wash? It's when too much fuel is dumped into the combustion chamber causing very bad things to happen.

Do yourself a favor and get the correct injectors. Or just use the srt4 ones and fuck up your engine, it's really your choice.

If those are Stg 0 SRT injectors you are looking at 44lbs compared to the 19lbs that stockers are...god help your engine. Horsepower does not raise exponentially with how much fuel you throw at your engine.

Dude, xtian, you are absolutely right, you CAN do whatever you want to your car. And if you choose to not listen to people when they tell you that YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON that is your choice.

But don't cry here when you do this and your car runs like shit. Because then we will all be there to say " I told you so" and laugh our balls off at your misfortune because you will have brought it upon yourself. Kthxbi!
