wtf batman

Post by superdan » Wed Mar 25, 2009 2:50 pm

i was driving on the interstate a couple hours ago and all of a sudden my car started jerking and rpms dropped a little. (its a mtx)

so i imediately look at my gas gauge and the needle is barely in the red. then i got to thinking; head gasket? lifters? clutch?

then i started thinking about this gas station i stopped at on my way to washington dc last friday. i go in a pre pay, the two clerks dont speak english very well and are yelling at eachother in their language and in english. so i go out to pump gas and well nothing was happening and i look around and its happening to a few others so what looked to be the gas station manager or maybe the interpreter lol came out and said to put the nozzle back in the pump then take it back out did that, still nothing. did it a few more times still nothing. then this old man pulls up to the pump in front of me and his starts working so i go in and tell them to switch me to that pump. but to make my already long story short i didnt feel too good about that gas station.

could i have possibly got bad gas? i only needed to fill up once after that goofball gas station.

ideas/comments/help is greatly appreciated

^^^It could happen. Last summer the only place to get diesel in my town accidentally put a bunch of gas in their underground diesel tank. Then they decided to dilute it with more diesel and sell it. That was a terrible few weeks for anything with a diesel engine. Not too long after that, some people that bought gas there had problems with what seemed to be diesel in their gas. So it could be that. Have you noticed extra smoke from your tailpipe? Does your exhaust smell extra oily?

Just because it SAID 87 octane... doesn't mean Diesel wasn't accidentally :quotes: put into their 87 octane tank

Ah, well in that case it would be fucked up. In the present case, it seems otherwise.

i would be pretty damn pissed if that happened. :cussing:
im still kind of worried about the car though, even thought its not something major thats needs repaired. but then i just think i have no idea what this car was before i got it. my guess was it was a drag car with maybe a turbo on it because come on who would drag a 2.0 non turbo neon lol

problem solved, bought valve tube kit (came with valve cover gasket and grommets for the spark plug tubes and seals? for the bolts the hold the valve cover on) and put new spark plugs in since the ones that were in there were drenched with oil (couldnt even see the spark plugs)

runs good now thank god lol

Just keep an eye on the tubes. If you didn't re seal the tubes to the head itself, then you may get oil returning inside the tubes.

Just a reminder of those with misfire problems, always check the plugs first
