CamShaft Position Sensor???????? Help!!!!

Post by lilnicko11 » Sat Mar 28, 2009 1:25 pm

So i asked a question a while ago because my car would [hesitate, skip, knock] whatever u wanna call it. It doesn't really buck hard or anything. But around 3k-4k rpms, mostly noticeable in 2nd and 3rd gear, the car would like pause and hesistate for a second and the RPMS would like flutter about 1k down and then instantly back up. I've pretty much ruled out clutch, belts, wires, and plugs. Im pretty sure its a sensor. Some members on here said it may be the CS POSITION SENSOR. By that I am assuming the CamShaft Position Sensor, correct? Anyways, how much do u think it will run me if that is the case and it is it an easy fix. My friend who works for a dodge dealership is gonna drive it with a scan tool to monitor the sensors while driving this week but I just wanted to get a jump start. Sorry if this is a Noobish question. I just know some u guys know a lot more about what ur talking about than i do.

Exactly... :withstupid: ... If it is your Cam Position Sensor going bad, there should be a code .....

IIRC, it was the crank sensor that ws thought to be giving you fits.

I would try using a code reader to pull them up..... It's possible that there are codes stored, that are not triggering a CEL.

The OBDII system in the car will show all the codes on the dash. You don't necessarily have to have a CEL to throw a code. Also note, codes may remain stored even after a CEL turns off. It depends on their priority; certain codes will auto reset after "x" amount of successful trips with no issues.

if it's the camshaft position sensor, then they are cheap, but you won't enjoy changing it, but it won't take you long, took me 30 minutes to change mine, but my symtoms were the car would bog down incredibly, and sometimes die and will not start. it was a week before i realized what it was, but yea i discovered the prob was CPS with a code reader.
