will a 1st gen 3spd atx bolt to a 2nd gen atx and run? with no other modifacation?
2005 neon sxt 2.0L 16v
custom cai,unorthadox udp,magnacore 8.5mmrace wires,ngk pllugs,R/T HEADER and ACTIVE R/T MANIFOLD,srt cat back,ps2 mopar lip kit and unforunately atx

If you talking about the 05 you have listed.

Yes it will run but you will have codes for the auto trans because the 3 speed is not electronically controlled

what is your reason for doing this?

3sp street strip valve body plus ican get one for free installed? will the car still run normally or will it throw it into limp mode

im not sure if it would go into limp mode or not, you could always get a manual PCM.

If this is a street car its going to suck to loose overdrive.

4 short gears, vs 3 long gears. Gonna be a slug outta the whole if it wasn't already.

its still not gpoing to be much of an upgrade for a N/A car.

the 4 speed also has shift kits avail.

where are the shift kits i havent seen any?

22 page thread on .org about 4speed atx performance. It's fucking terrible for N/A, but decent for boost. A 5-speed swap would be the best bet for your car, unless you plan on doing a 12.5:1 motor on MS with a trans brake, and a 3500 stall convertor. The 3 speed will literally be slower in the car than the 4-speed stock for stock.
