Happy anniversary to me and my Neon
Happy anniversary to me and my Neon
Bought my R/T one year ago today. It's been the best daily driver I've ever owned. A "toast" to MoPar engineering.

Your post makes me feel old. In 2 months, I will have owned my Neon for 9 years.

I paid cash for it, brand new with 96 miles on it (was driven from one dealer, to my dealer for delivery). Its not worth it to sell after taking 100% of the depreciation with my own wallet. Besides, its not like I need to sell it to buy anything else. Ive bought and sold a dozen other cars since Ive owned the neon. (and before it, came the '57)2005.Neon.SXT wrote:Damn. Besides, its still fun to drive. Not as fast as my F350, but it handles. Which is something the F350 can never hope to do.
Atleast thats how I convinced myself to finally go out and buy an R/T front bumper for it at the dealer yesterday.

Weird.
3/28 or 3/29/05 I think was the purchase date of my 05. Funny how a lot of us bought around the same time. I bought it with 7 miles over it, and this week it's gonna turn over 90K. I've tossed aroudn the idea of selling it a few times, but, it's been so damn reliable! There hasn't been one time I've went out to it, and turned the key, and it not started. I've gotta do my timing belt and clutch soon though, so that might change haha. My wife has convinced me that after I put a 2.4 into the 98, the 05 should get an SRT swap.

So many neons so little time.
In 1 month it would have been my 2 year anniversary with my old neon

I've had my '00 since I was 15 1/2. I'm 24 now. So around 9 years for me, also.

Congratulations, Toast!
I'll be Looking at 9 years this May. I have a smidgen over 66K now and she had about 64 on her after the dealership to dealership transfer. I bought her sight unseen as she was the only white MTX with everything on her I wanted. I love her more today, thanks to 2GN, than I did 9 years ago. And that's saying a lot as I loved her lots even back then.

And then of course you can rebuild it.
Of course, the SRT-4 longblock is so stout, and I suspect you plan to pretty much leave it as is, and I also suspect you perform regular maintenance... so I think the likelihood of it blowing up is slim to none

Sounds like how I bought my car. It was the only silver MTx on the west coast with all the options (ES level)

My Neon has been a blessing over the past year, I've owned good daily drivers before but none were the "total" package. The Neon is somewhat quick, reliable, fun, gets good gas mileage, I have gotten compliments on it, it can transport my mountain bike without a bicycle rack, and I didn't pay a fortune for it. Now as for my other ride, the Beretta, I've owned it for 10 years (this past Feb.) and it's more or less my play toy for the track and general street thrashing. It practically breaks every time I drive it (I'm exaggerating a little). However after I log off I have to fix it, earlier I noticed my Beretta's oil pressure is lower than normal. I'm hoping it's just the pressure sending unit and not something bottom end related.
