but technically you could almost put it between the 1st and 2nd one if you really wanted to. I think that 1,2,4,3 and 1,4,2,3 both work. obviously will be lil things here and there but it will make sense....

I think it would be closer to 1,2,4,3.. I watched the movie off an internet link so its kind of hard to see the cars.. But i think i saw a Nissan GT-R.. and if thats so, i dont think the GT-R was out around the 2nd movie (that i know of)

Edit: also the brand new Suburu STI was in this movie. So i don't think it would go 1,4,2,3

the cars and the dates they were made do not go along with the story line. that should be obvious. they still wanna show the hottest new cars so they are goin to incorporate them regardless. So we can't judge the sequence of the movies by the cars in it but by the storylines and people.

Saw it last night and I thought it was great. Waaaay better than 3. The story and character situation did have me confused, but once I got over that the movie was awesome. I LOVED the GNX and that ridiculous pickup w/semi super single tires on it in the beginning.

No, this whole movie takes place after 2, hence Paul Walker being able to work as a cop again. After 1 he was running from the cops, after two his record was wiped clean so he could be recruited by the FBI for this one.

Well Fast and Furious had a great opening weekend. $12 is mine!

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/06/vin- ... m-opening/

"It may well be that in its fourth installment, Universal Pictures' 'Fast & Furious' franchise has finally hit its top speed. According to preliminary estimates by Media by Numbers, the Vin Diesel/Paul Walker/Jordana Brewster/Michelle Rodriguez street racing vehicle cranked out a shocking $72.5 million dollar payday over the weekend.

To put that in proper context, CNN reports that this figure is the best April film opening ever, blowing away 'Anger Management' at $42.2M, and it easily dusts the opening weekend of 'Fast 2 Furious" ($50.5M), previously the series' best outing. Perhaps most jarring is news that the $72.5M earnings would make it the best opening for a car-related movie ever.

One thing's for sure – with a showing like this, we're betting that Hollywood execs are already on the phones this morning commissioning scripts for a fifth film – if they don't have a drawer full of 'em already.

Are you planning on seeing 'Fast and Furious?' Take our poll after the jump. Thanks for the tip, Daniel!"

I was thinking that they may tie in Vin being in Japan with the guy ( I forgot his name) from Tokyo Drift. Either way I doubt they will have it take place in the States because Vin is a hardcore fugitive now. Either way Im sure #5 will get a green light from Universal Studios. They just made under 80 Million in under 3 days.

After further reading, part 4 timeline wise happens at the same time the tokyo drift time....actually Tokyo drift happens just shy after this movie starts hence HAN still being in this one for the begining only until they part there ways and HAN heads to Tokyo....so in a scense the order whould be...1,2,41/2,3....which would explain why the silver roadrunner is in both movies.....

PS - Silver-ES :pottytrain2: you were right.......

Silver Roadrunner? Im assuming the car Vin was driving at the end of Tokyo Drift was a Roadrunner? I never looked to hard I guess. Was it Lettys old car? The one she died in I assume?

What I dont get is how the Charger showed up twice in the new movie. Vin crashed it in the cave then Paul was driving it when they were chasing down the prison bus.

Yes, the silver car was a Roadrunner. As stated earlier it was called HAMMER and was built by Pure Vision. There was an episode of Rides about it. If I saw correctly a red GTX he built, named GTX-R was in the desert scene as well if you look closely while they are in formation. Here is a picture of it:

and HAMMER:

Remember that Tokyo drift doesnt fit in the series, they made it when both Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were busy/out of their price range

Is it really this hard for people to grasp the concept of the F&F time line?

Lets keep this simple.

#1 The Fast and Furious (2001)
#2 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)
#3 Fast & Furious (2009)
#4 The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)

I swear to god if someone still has issues with the time line Im gona pistol whip them.

May I just shamelessly plug Adventureland here? Filmed and set in Pittsburgh in '87, funny yet realistically relatable movie from Greg Mottola (Superbad), cute girls, and a Plymouth Duster. need I say moar?
