how much $ to paint a spoiler?

Post by supertrick_05 » Tue Sep 13, 2005 12:28 am

I'm just wondering, since my dad's gonna give me his SRT spoiler, how much would it cost to paint it (rough estimate)?

It just depends on where you get it done. Most good shops around town here would charge for assembly, removing it if you have it installed, painting, and clear coating. So just think about $40-$50 an hour for the painting and clear coating....and then however many hours it takes them. Unless you can get it cheaper somewhere....just quoting what's around town here.

Do it yourself. :) Get a couple cans of Mopar Spray Paint & clear coat and save a couple hundred dollars. I've seen paint jobs that turn out really nice out of a rattle can.

Well I might be getting the AVS lip spoiler, so it wouldn't be that hard to rattle can the thing I don't think? I dunno....I'll take in into consideration....

Ok, I just called my local body shop and he said it would be somewhere around $150 to paint it....sounds like high, doesn't it? And I'm not sure about rattle can anymore....the AVS downdraft kinda blends in with the trunk, and I think it would be hard to get it to match with rattle can paint. I dunno....what do ya think?

$150 doesnt sound too bad, as long as they are painting it and installing it and everything. when i got my cf wing on, it only cost like $50 and that was bending and painting brackets and crap. it took them like all day. i guess having connections at a body shop helps too. just ask around, im sure someone will hook ya up! :)

$150 aint bad. I paid $100 for my old spoiler but I knew the dude that did it. That was installed too.

$150 sounds like a correct price. Here's a tip. Take the wing off yourself, and put it on yourself. They might take some money off if they don't have to remove and install it.

You CAN paint it yourself, but unless your a talented person, it might take MUCH longer, and turn out MUCH worse that what is worth the hassle. So just save up is my advice. I mean heck, I am spending $85 to get my mirrors painted this week. I suppose if you want it DONE....or want it DONE RIGHT?
