Hey! 2001 Neon ACR *Pics Now*

Post by teklein » Tue Apr 07, 2009 7:40 am

Hey everyone!

My name is Tim, I reside in Simpsonville, SC.

I am a moderator at 2gnt.com for the 2g non turbo Eclipse. I have one of these too, but will be for sale shortly.

I wanted to start autocrossing again, and this is my fourth Neon.

I picked up a silver 2001 Neon ACR last night, 48k miles, harnesses, UDP, Supertrapp, etc.

So far im in love with it!

Ill put pictures up later when I take some :)

Thanks!

Ok, took some pictures after I washed it this weekend. Excuse the inside, havent had a chance to clean the interior yet.

No pictures of the engine yet. I still need to finish cleaning it, and it looks bad. The factory coating on the VC is flaking too. Ill need to get it redone.

I did read there were only 123 Silver ACR's with AC built in 2001, is this correct? From the production numbers I found, it seemed like 1000 ACR's were built from 2001-2002.

Thanks! This weekend I am doing all the basic maintenance, just so I know when it was last done. Already picked up the stuff from the Dodge dealer, just need time :P

And Diablo, if there are ever any get togethers, let me know! I know all the 2gnt people, but none of the Neon crowd :P

Sure thing but there usually isn't any straight Neon gatherings around here that I know of... mainly b/c there aren't many of us. I see a few modded ones around here but they aren't on the forums. I usually bum around with the SRT crew which usually get together about once every season or so. There was one just this past weekend.

Ah nice!

There are not many 2gnt's around either, well there are, but only a few of us treat them more than just a beater DD.

Three including me to be exact :P

We normally try to get together every couple of months or so.

Thanks!

Harnesses are mounted to the front seat belt mounts and the rear seat belt mounts.

They are Falken Azenis :)

Will probably need replaced by the end of the year, at which point I think ill go to Hankook RS2's.

Does that thing have a hitch? If so thats gotta go for an ACR. Other than that its a great ACR. Get some pics of the engine bay for sure!

Yep it has a hitch and it isnt going anywhere (yet)!

It was basically used for autocross all its life, and it towed a small plastic "bubble" trailer with a set of race tires and a jack and such.

I need to decide how much I will autocross it, then decide whether or not I will need the hitch :)

Plus I need to look, IIRC Neon hitches bolt into the spare tire tub, if thats the case, it wont be coming off anytime soon until it can go into the body shop to have the holes properly taken care of!

I was just thinkin of the extra weight you're carrying around. I guess if you dont have a truck to haul your stuff around to the track with though i can see why you'd keep it.

Woah! Didnt see the rest of your guys comments :)

The harnesses came installed.

The lap belts are mounted to the stock seat mounting points, and the rear tails are mount on the lower rear seat seat belt bolts.
