Skunk2 springs???

Post by benzsxt » Wed Apr 08, 2009 9:48 pm

I have a set of Skunk2 springs and have looked on there site and it says they fit 1995-2002. Am I the only one that sees something wrong here? I have them installed and want to know if I should install 1st gen struts or 2nd gen. It is very low on stock struts. I know you have to modify the struts to fit the knukles.

Tight. I like them, I just need struts because I am on OEM and they need replacing.

Those springs are really 95-99 springs, they don't work well on 2gn cars. You can't install 1gn struts on a 2gn.

If you modify the knuckle they will fit, but the weight of a 2gn is more than a first gen. Does anyone know how much a 4 door fist gen weighs with an ATX? I might go that route if the weight ratio isnt far off. Its not a race car I just cruise around in it.

You got your numbers messed up there.

Also, I thought 2gns weight closer to 2700lbs-2900lbs.

lol. they dont work well on 2gns but,, you cant install then on a 2gn.

but anyways u can install them on a 2gn its just that itll give you like a 5 inch drop if not 6 in the rear as well as the front like a 4 inch drop. i know some people who are using them and they like them but yeah its not good to run them on a 2gn neon.

Just buy 2gn springs and struts. Don't try to re-engineer your suspension for the sake of fitting mediocre (at best) springs. Spend the money and do it right. If modifying a 2gn for 1gn suspension was beneficial, don't you suppose other people would be doing it? Stick with what works.

1gn stuff is lighter = less unsprung weight, and better handling. The rear struts alreadt fit, just swap top mounts. For the front to fit, you either have to machine the knuckle down, or swap to the 1gn stuff. I actualy thought about doing it to my 01; good way to lower over 2 inches with no fear of blowing struts.....
Yup it definately needs to go lower. If its not scrapeing constantly why you are driving then its not low enough bro.
