Oil light comes on at start every once in awhile

It's odd. Always after a start first thing in the morning. It pops on. I shut it down right away. Then restart and it goes away. The level is spot on and the oil is pretty clean.

Any ideas? I am looking at buying a Scan Gauge II to monitor the oil pressure.

im guessing you're getting code P0552 for the oil pressure sensor? same thing happens to my car every couple of days, i've been meaning to replace the sensor but haven't had the time. that might be a good place to start.

yeah change ur sensor. i finally changed mine a while back after doing an oil change and its never been back on again. i had that same problem like you. so yeah sensor changing time and its not hard either,.

my sensor was like $12 and i bought i changed it back in like february at napa. why.

just wondering how much those sensors are and if they were a dealer only part or not

my buddy has the same problem it dings on when you strat it and then stays on then goes off on a slight hill and then comes back on....so should i just get him to replace the sensor or how do you do it so when i change his oil i know and can do it for him..?

its a very common problem...
The oil sensor casing separates causing oil seepage on the back of the motor and triggering the oil light...e oil light...

oh no. just go to ur local parts store and ask for an oil sensor.

I just replaced mine for the same reason. It's a PITA to change, but it fixed the problem and gave me an excuse to set up my oil pressure gauge.

why was it a pita to change.
all u need is the sensor socket and it comes out easily.

Just trying to reach it was a pain. It came out easy once I could reach it, just not much room back there to work with.

I need to buy/rent a special tool for removal? It looked like a crecent wrench type of deal but I have to get out there and actually spot it.

Ive replaced many of them with a cresent wrench, not the easiest thing, but it works. I finally bought the special socket, for a whopping $12. Worth the money, IMO.

Just pull the battery, and go in from the top. Getting at it from uderneath bites.

pull the battery? you dont even need to do that.

alrite well this is how i did mine.

all i had to do was remove the coil pack. and i had enough room to get my hands down there and take it out. dont go from the bottom do it from the top of the engine. and yes u can buy the socket at napa or any autoparts store.

It was just hard to reach. Couldn't see to do it from the top. Getting it off was the easy part, getting it back on was more difficult. But that could have been due to installing the sender for my AutoMeter gauge at the same time.

Mine is mounted to the back of the battery tray now.
