Noise

Post by latief » Tue Apr 21, 2009 11:48 pm

So after i was done working on my suspension, i was just inspecting my front. i was shaking the front sway to make sure everything was nice and tight ( i was under the car), and i noticed that i get a rattling noise from inside the tranny...the car was in first gear, so everything should be tight....

what the hell could be rattling in there? i have issue with power in my car, and sometimes it looses power when going from first to second for a moment. i've always thought that it was an engine issue, but could there be something broken/ loose in the tranny ?

weird isn't it?

Just to clarify, while you were shaking the sway bar you heard noises inside the trans? Were you rocking the car forward at the time while it was in gear? There is a little slack between the clutch/flywheel to the transmission gears, then to the differential, then to the axles. So you will hear some noises if you're rocking the car back and forward in gear.

yep, that was what i was talking about. i was under the impression that there should not be any slack since it is in gear.....

But i was rocking the car sideways just to make sure the sway is not shifting or rubbing near the endlinks...

Thanks,
