i have tried...
new razors
mutiblade razors
old razors
shave in the shower
cold water hot water
different creams/gels
only shaving with the hair.. not against it
i still to this day get pretty ugly razor burn on my neck...
no mater how slow and light i go...
any ideas....
and i have used electric razors before... but im over them too..

Shave everyday until it gets used to it. I would also get some sort of gel/aftershave to help prevent it.
I I don't shave down on my neck, I shave from left to center and right to center...seems to work for me.
If you keep getting it in the same spot shave it differently and see what happens.

at bath and body works they carry a brand called anthony logistics, get a bottle of their pre-shave oil and a tube of the sensitive skin shave gel or cream. then use some sort of sensitive skin after shave balm/lotion.
only shave right after a hot shower. use a brand new high end razor (gillette fusion/schick quattro). put the oil on, wait a minute or two, put the shave cream on, and go to town. use hot water to rinse the blade after every stroke.
or you could wait a few days, let the razor burn heal, trim the hair with elctric clippers and go to a barbershop that does straight razor shaves. those work pretty well for sensitive skin.
hope that helps
**edit** and don't press down with the razor. just let it slide along your skin

-Wet down the area to be shaved with quite warm water.
-Apply shaving cream to wet area. Try Gillette Foamy Sensitive Skin.
-Allow all this to soften up the whiskers for a coupla minutes.
-Start shaving with the whiskers using a new straight blade. blade.
Moisture and a sharp blade are the keys here... along with giving the moisture/cream time to soften things up.
Experiment... but keep in mind the mositure & sharp blade... soon you will learn what works for you.
63 and still haven't discovered this eh?

LOL. He's like 19 guys.
I just use hair trimmers and trim the hair really short. Gives you that "3 day growth" look.

So many neons so little time.

How often do you shave? I like to let a little stubble be there before I shave again. I have the same issue. If I just use shaving cream on dry skin, wherever I shave is all fucked up and hurts like a motherfucker. What I have found to work the best and be most comfortable is:
Shave immediately after a shower. I put shaving cream on the area of my face I am going to shave, and I ONLY shave downward (with the grain). Afterward, I use lotion on my face (which also is a good way of preventing dry skin.) I use a Gillette Mach 3.

shave in the direction the whiskers are growing. don't go against the grain (even though you get a closer shave that way). go with the grain and it may help a bit.

Yeah, to be honest, when I do shave, I just get in the shower while it's warm and go at it with a rusty blade and water, irish spring soap (as a substitute for shaving cream) if I feel like it.

So many neons so little time.

could just be your skin type or the way it reacts to the ingredients in the stuff you use or a reaction to the actual razons themselves. who knows man......sounds like you'll have to suffer......

I have nothing useful to say here, it's all been said. I do have to say that your age is quite confusing. It says ur old, and in another post you mentioned getting your permit 6 months ago or something, someone asked why you got it so old and a reply said you just got out of prison for murder. All non-nonchalant and no one brought it up... clearly the sarcasm was lost on me..

I used a Norelco electric in high school and then went to the old-fashioned razor that cranked open so that you could insert the metal blade that had two edges, one on each side and Barbasol shave cream. Years later, I went back to an electric (expensive Braun shaver) but it started to make my neck bleed

(for real, sort of like a crosshatch pattern in the skin on my neck with blood dripping every shave). Now I just use American-made disposable Schick ST razors with Gillette Complete Skincare Shave gel (Canadian, but still good

).
It helps to use water as hot as you can stand it or to shave right after being in the shower. I have to shave against the hairs or else I can scrape away for hours and still have a shadow.
