Actually i did this yesterday:
1. took the dealer emblem off the trunklid (after owning the car for almost a year)
2. took her through the automatic car wash after getting all the adhesive off from the dealer emblem
3. had to re-wash it with a bucket of soapy water and a sponge when i got home b/c the stupid automatic car wash in my town sucks
4. put 1/3 quart of oil in
5. dug out a huge mouse nest located under the battery, on top of the transaxle (lil bastards)

Drove it around this morning with a new-found joy after the major improvements from the front-end suspension work/wheel bearing replacement job last week.

Later this week it goes into the shop again for major cooling system overhaul: new rad, new coolant pipes, new heater hoses, new thermostat housing and thermostat.

Also getting the A/C fixed at the same time.

It is in the shop until tomorrow while getting the cooling system refurbished and the A/C working again.

Those items above are the last major items on my "Neon TO DO" list as below:

-1 spark plug tube consistently & slowly rising
-install new spark plugs
-replace rear wheel bearings (no noise, doing this proactively given the mileage))
-install new headlamps when they arrive from Modern
-exhaust rattle while in reverse
-clean driver's side carpet... ugh winter stains
-touchup spots on paint
-wash 'n wax

EDIT: The buzzer sounded off for the door just as I hit "submit" for this post... it was Canada Post with my new headlamps from Modern! Wheee! I love getting packages delivered right to the door.

Since I didn't get to drive the bitch today, I stared at her in the yard for a good couple of minutes to make her feel pretty.

I got it back from the shop today where I had...

Radiator, thermostat, thermostat housing, upper & lower rad hoses, heater pipes, heater hose, transmission cooler lines and of course coolant all replaced.

The old radiator looks a little tired after 8 years on the go but it was not leaking... yet.

I also had the A/C fixed. Cool air inside the Neon... finally after 2 years.

A bonus... the mechanic had the intake off to get the coolant pipes replaced and did this mod for me while everything was apart:

viewtopic.php?t=7263

When I first opened the hood I was thinking WTF... something is missing here... until closer inspection.

If the weather holds I will be installing my new headlamps from Modern over the weekend. Purchased GE NightHawk bulbs for them today.

I should start a progress log... but it will be mostly boring stuff like regular maintenance and this type of stuff above.

Drove 50 miles round trip to/from work. Drove about 20 miles up and down the mountain because it was nice today.

Remembered I need to start thinking about replacing my timing belt and water pump. Contemplated repainting my valve cover (did a test paint to see how it would turn out, turns out it was way too bright of a blue)

This was yesterday but,

I changed the oil and pulled out the plugs in the lower ball joints and replaced them with zerks. I also drained my catch can. What a PITMFA that was.
