SRT-4 Cluster w/ Gauges
SRT-4 Cluster w/ Gauges
I was wondering if it would be a straight swap with a 00 Neon, and would i lose my mileage count.. i plan on going to some junkyards and see what i can find. I want to do this because my stock gauges dont have a tach and their boring :/
Pics soon.

I believe that yes they will swap over but i do know that yes you will lose your mileage and that the mileage on the swapped cluster will display. so if you had 50K on your car and you swap in a cluster that had 20K... it'll display 20K

if you do get another cluster, make sure u know how many miles your original one had on it before the swap so you can keep track of how many miles your car really has. i got lucky when i did my swap, its only 1,xxxmi. off from my actually milage, just luck of the draw
a random gauge cluster i found at a junkyard
A very kind and competent dodge dealer will do it for you because they have the machines and tools necesary to do the job. Don;t know how much it will cost, though

I think it was on the 'Speed that one of the members said that he got it done right on the spot. He said he came up with the story that the original one had malfunctioned or something and the guy was sympathetic to his situation. Off the top of my head, I think he said it cost like 50-75 bucks? Don't quote me on that, though.scneonchic501 wrote:i always heard they had to send off both clusters in order to do that, thats why i never had mine done...can they do that stuff right at the dealership?
Others said that they just take note of what the original mileage is and go to the DMV and report the change. That way, it's "official." I'm reluctant to do that though since the DMV=long wait. Then again i got a brand new toy (my laptop) so maybe I can bring it along while I'm there to help pass the time.

I ripped apart my old cluster (I too got lucky and randomly got a new cluster with exactly 2k miles ahead of my original) cause I heard you can swap out the computer board the odometer is at (don't know the technical term for it sorry) so the new cluster reads your old mileage. I tried it, and it still read the same new mileage. So I did some more research and found out you have to use a soldering iron to actually swap out things on the computer board of the odometer. I stopped right there and just noted the difference in mileage.
I don't know if it's true or not, but I wasn't going to go any further.

LOL, I'll definaly have to file an odometer disclosure when/if I ever sell my car, I swapped out my old cluster about 2 years ago, and then the speedometer stopped working after my tranny swap, so my car has had the same 35871 miles for the last year or so, oh well, quite frankly, i'm not planning to sell it, nor would I tell anyone about the swap if I did.
