Break a wheel stud

Post by Themaggots » Sun May 03, 2009 11:09 pm

Does anyone have a fast and easy way to break a wheel stud without damaging anything?

I went to install my coilovers and one lugnut snapped in half right at the 60degree base. I can't get any grip on it and I've tried to drill it to get it to break and it won't. So I'm down to either drill the stud out completely or break it.

It's the last stud holding the wheel in.

cut the head off the stud behind the spindle with a grinder or cut off wheel and then replace it

try putting a deep socket, just bigger than the stud itself on there and whacking the shit out of it with a hammer.

how do you go about putting in a new one once its broken?
