04_NeonSxt Progress Log

Post by 04_NeonSxt » Mon May 04, 2009 12:02 am

Well I figure I will make a log about everything that I have done so far to the Neon. To start off she is a Solar Yellow 2004 Dodge Neon Sxt. As of right now I haven't done a lot in mods, but its a start.

This is what she looked like when I first bought her.

Interior

Now, the good part.

The first purchase was the Mopar Lip Kit.

I painted some of the interior yellow to match the exterior.
I need to get a newer pic because I took the vents back to the stock color. The yellow was a little too much for me. Image

I have lots more planned for her, so more to come. Soon hopefully :D

What are the plans!!??

Hopefully one of them is color matching the lip kit. That's just my $.02.

Lookin' good. Maybe I'll run into you (not literally) my next time on the way to DE.

w000 another member! And yes, you're going to get it from a lot of members to paint your lip kit to colormatch. It just makes the car look better all around. You'll also hear "remove side moldings" and "debadge trunk" and "slam it!" and... well, you get the point lol.

What are your plans for the car?

Yeah I kind of figured I might get bashed about the lip kit. Its not that I didnt have the money to paint it or anything, I just wanted to try something different. I have thought about it, but I like the two tone look for now. As far as side mouldings and debadging, ive thought about it, I just don't want to risk pulling the paint off or even bubbling it. I really want to lower it, but the roads around here are just aweful so thats the only reason its not already. Plans are wheels/tires, tail lights, clear marker lights, sound system, tint, and probably some other stuff later.

I finally bought some new wheels and tires. I liked the silverstones so I decided to buy something similar. I bought some 16" MB Wheels Mesh X wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich g-Force Sport tires.

Very nice rim choice and tire choice. I likey!

Rims won't look good on a 4x4 neon with a lip kit though. Needs to be lowered.

Not feeling the silver lip kit on a yellow car. Looks out of place big time. Gert it painted solar yellow.

I would really like to lower it but with the roads around her and it being a daily driver I dont think I could do a 2" or more drop.

I need to get a new pic up because I got tired of the painted interior and took them back.

I love those tires :) ha ha I have em. Nice choice on the wheels. I don't think the lip kit looks horrible, it just looks weird....I agree that painting it would make it look worlds better. As for lowering just go with a more mild drop...that way you don't have to worry about roads too much. They suck around here too, trust me...we all know. You just have to drive a bit differently pulling into and out of places.

Roads suck out here too. When we say go lower, we don't always mean "slam it to the ground".. some do, but not literally lol. I'm always careful driving around now with my car. And I especially hate coming up to railroad crossings :banghead:

I also used to have that mentality. But now I am lowered, and I have not had any problems at all. In fact, Tokicos handle bumps alot better than stock suspension can, so it rides smoother. You learn to drive around bumps eventually anyways.

I like the 2 tone, silver and yellow seem good together sometimes. Lowered and shaved some of the mess off and itll look sweet.

Yeah slammin' it is out of the question, but when you say a mild drop how low are we talking?

Also finally got a pic of my interior without the painted vents.

I used to have a '93 Spirit before the Neon. I sold it on craigslist for $1750. I was happy considering I paid $1900 for it when I bought it two years earlier.

Love the wheels, I considered going that route before settling on what I have now. Only gripe is the ride height, although where it is now you could always use it as a tent if you go camping!

You could lower it an inch and a half to two inches and it'd look GREAT! Chicago roads aren't great either, so I know the feeling about that, however I'm lowered almost 2 inches now and only occasionally have problems outside of some driveways. Just pay attention to what you're doing and you should be just fine!

Thanks TheRandom1, but I have to say that is the first time I have been told I could use my car as a tent though. But yes I know, I need to start looking into spring and strut combinations for the future, but I will probably try to stay around a 1.5" drop.

! :confused2:
Atleast lower it a bit. Like an inch all around. The tails and rims blend in with the silver but ugh the silver lip kit still bothers me for some reason. Might be because its in 4x4 mode. idk. Just 2 complete different colors on the body bugs me. *shrug*

Its a very very clean car though by the way. Double clicking ont he picts really show that.

I'm indifferent on the two tone. I like the wheels and I think a mild drop would do well. I would suggest adjustable coil overs if you have the $$$ (you wouldn't regret it) otherwise a nice set of Eibach "Pro-kit" would give close to the drop your looking for. You'd probably have to upgrade struts and all that info can be found.

good work yo

Car looks clean, I like it. I'm kinda "shway shway" on the two toned lip kit and body. Definitely need to lower it and debadge the trunk. I would mention the side moldings as well but I still have mine on lol.

All in all, car looks awesome
