door skins.... mods feel free to move

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

hey guys i have an interesting question how much would i compromise a door by cutting away a large portion of the inner skin?

the door is designed to protect you incase of a side impact, I do not recomend modifying it in anyway for street use :thumbup:

i think he's talking about the plastic part of the inner door and not the bars inside the door itself.

I would not cut a door skin or any of the metal in a door. What is the reasoning behind this? You're taking away structural integrity.

The "crash bars" are glued to the outer skin. Prolly welded at the ends. The inner sheet metal may not be much, but why risk it. If you reinforce it you could make a minor crash worse. What may have been just replacing the door, could result in worse injury for you, and bending the whole car, instead of the door.
