Problem with my new exhaust

Post by Fuel-RT » Sat May 09, 2009 3:31 pm

I bought this exhaust from ebay

Sounds good, looks good but the tips don't line up with the holes on the bumper.

Can a muffler shop fix this, and how?

Will an SRT bumper line up better?

Just something you'll have to deal with. I know there's another member who's muffler tips didn't align with the lip kit, so he had to cut a bit more on the side it was rubbing. If you could do that, and pull it up more, I think it'd look pretty good. Don't know what capabilities a muffler shop has that could fix that, but then again I don't work at one.

There really isn't much a muffler shop can do. This is a fine example of you getting what you pay for. With that said, you will just have to deal with it or make modifications to make it work to your liking.

What looks like something that could be done is to bring the tips up higher and trim the cutouts to fit around the tips symmetrically.

Kinda what I said, but from someone who knows for sure.

Just run the car with no muffler for the time being!

if you have a friend that can weld, just cut the pipes from where they connect to the muffler off and reweld them on, not a hard fix at all

No. The Mopar rear lip is designed for the R/T or ACR Rear Section (I have a '02 ACR Rear section).

Ok cool,

Are the RT or ACR exhaust discontinued? Where can I buy one from?

Do they have a deep sound or they sound like a factory muffler?

just leave your exhaust alone. it's about an inch low on both sides, but it looks fine.

It's fairly deep. Not anywhere close to how an SRT-4 rear section would sound on a non-turbo Neon, but it sounds pretty good. Little crackles and pops here and there, but not annoyingly loud. I like it.

As far as that link, not sure if that's it or not. I would just keep an eye out here if you want to snag one. I wouldn't mess with your rear lip cutouts either just in case you are able to get one.

I vote for the cut and weld. Should be cheap and you don't have to mess with reselling what you bought already.

looks like the tips are spaced for an srt... so an srt bumper would remedy it but the cheaper option is getting it chopped up at the exhaust shop.
