I believe it went from the compressor housing into a wiring harness. My dad was literally just talking about this last night because he had to fix the one on my sister's neon. he said they break from the engine moving. i.e. taking it out, or lifting it up, removing the transmission etc.

My dad said he just spliced in a new wire with the same connector, and plugged it back in and it was good to go. Maybe someone else will chime in with something more useful

Take it to another shop that does A/C work and can evacuate and recharge the system?

So basically the pressure switch is whats broken? I don't think those are mounted to the compressor tho.
If it is the wire that goes to the compressor clutch, there will be no loss of freon to repair that. If it is for the pressure sensor, then yes they are correct. You can put a jumper across the connector to get the A/C to work, if it is the pressure switch. BUT you run the risk of compressor damage if you do run low on freon, as it also lubricates the compressor.
For short term till the switch is fiixed it will get you by. If the pins are still in good shape/intact on the switch, then slide the connector onto them and tie wrap it in place.

Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
