so i was cleaning up the engine bay yesterday and for somereason i pulled the plug wires out and the two center ones have oil bout quarter way up them...ne idea what caused this or what is wrong....

There are two possible sources for the oil...

1) The spark plug tube seals around the opening in the valve cover have gone bad and are allowing oil in from the top

2) The spark plug tubes themselves have risen up and are allowing oil in from the bottom.

The oil in your tubes could be from one or both of those conditions.

Check the tubes that have oil in them... do they appear to be higher than the others without oil?

If the answer is yes then #2 is the reason there is oil in there.

The temporary fix for that is to find a socket that covers the top of the spark plug tube and gentle hammer on the socket until the tube is seated again in the head.

If the spark plug tubes are fine then it is the seals around the tubes in the valve cover that have gone bad and need replacing.

I've had this condition with my vehicle for the past 2 years. To keep the oil out of the tubes I would bang the tube back down into position every month.

If the spark plug tubes have risen and need to be re-seated you will need the following parts:

-valve cover gasket set which includes the valve cover gasket, valve cover bolt grommets and spark plug tube seals.

-4 new spark plug tubes

-Permatex Red High Strength Thread Locker - this is used at the bottom of the spark plug tubes to make a secure contact with the head.

Mopar have the "Mopar Stud and Bearing Mount Adhesive" but guess who makes it and what that product is... Permatex Red High Strength Thread Locker.

This seems to be a very common issue with the Neons. There are *several* other threads here on this including some with the "how-to" if you want to do the job yourself.

Hopefully it's just the plug seals, easy cheap fix.

Instead of using a socket, I took off the valve cover and placed a 2x4 across all of the tubes. Then hit it with a hammer.
