I'm still learning the camera. The D40x only has 3 focal points, and if the model wasn't the focal point her face would be blurred.

Any advice from camera gurus? I'm extremely new at this

Use manual focus, or put the focal point on her face, push the shutter button down half way to lock focus and then re frame the picture.

I don't, it's just temporary. It'll be registered in PA, the temps are from VA.
