Should have scared the piss out of you. At least you would have gotten the fire out faster.

Id think you could mount it on the back of the rear seat, like people do with amps, and in case of fire you don't have to get out of the car. Just reach back, pull the strap and flip the seat down! Keeps the car uncluttered and will still be fairly quick to get.

A 2.5 lbs amerex will mount right under the glove box and be well concealed under the dash if you are wanting a clean look as well as accessability.

Concealing the fire extinguisher not a great idea.

Sure, the driver knows where it is... but what if the driver is unconscious and someone stops to assist?

They won't be able to easily find the extinguisher.

That is bad... very bad for the driver if trapped in a burning vehicle.

we're already talking about an extreme hypothetical situation here is the thing though. what if you get in a car crash and die? does that mean you should stop driving because there is a possibility of death? i just feel things need to be kept in perspective. that's just my personal opinion though.

Okay... I give up.

Lets mount the extinguisher in the trunk and throw away the key to the trunk.

That was beyond saving at that point. That would be a "run the fuck away" moment.

In all reality, once the fire has hit the interior it is done. Car interiors are like molded gasoline. They burn very quickly.

If someone is trapped in a burning car, where the interior is engulfed, they would prolly rather die. Burning like that is painless. Recovery is not. Yes I know firsthand.
What I went through on my legs, I wouldn't want to go through over my entire body.
Most fire extinguishers would suffocate them anyways.

The odds of it happening are prolly a lot less than getting killed or diabled from a non burning crash than a burning one. I have been in about 10 car wrecks, and not one has caught fire.
I have a bigger fear of the extinguisher comming out of it's mount and punching a hole in my skull than burning. For those of you that have been in an impact above 45 mph you know what I'm saying. Shit flys everywhere. If you have never been in a crash, you have no idea. And I hope you never do.

A combination of my own stupidity, and that of others. :D

I often wonder how I lived through my earlier days of driving.

 JK! Hell I've been in a solid 6-7 car wrecks in my day; most of them in other peoples cars, but a lot nonetheless.

Just get a Halon system for the cab and engine bay and call it a day.

Push or pull the red button and the blue and gold nozzle by the tach dispenses Halon.
