I drive a lot up too 200 miles/day so I wanted something that was comfortable and roomier. Which is when I bought the CTS, 4/24/09.
So I was driving around the CTS with no problems, up until last night when the engine light came on and the engine it self started clicking and puttering in first gear. FANTASTIC! So being the pessimist that I am I automatically think the worst. Some how some where I threw a rod bearing and I need a new engine.
Now, I calm down and check my oil, I could be low on oil. Bear in mind its almost one in the morning I just got off my wonderful stress free job (sarcasm) I'm tired and I haven't eaten in 10 hours.
Yup, low on oil... really low. At this time I want to go home and sleep because I have a test tomorrow (today) that i still have to prepare more for. I put a quart in and drive home at the half the speed of smell, to avoid any unnecessary stress on the engine.
Fast forward to this morning...
I take it to my local GM dealer to have them look at it. They call back and tell me that my car was 2 QUARTS LOW on oil
So that is where I stand now, waiting for a call back.
My problem is the fact that this car should have been check for leaks and fixed or at least say "hey your cars is leaking oil" at the time of sale. Since I see no puddles, I have to think, did they even put oil in my car?
The fact that I am out of warranty doesn't help me(used car; 2MO/2kmiles). Which reminds me, the dealer guarantees NJ inspection PASS. My CTS FAILED, due to the D/S stop light is out. Which only says they really didn't do shit with it after auction.
Oh well, it gave me a reason to drive the Neon for a little bit and you know what? It may be way under powered, it may not have A/C, and it screams "HEY LOOK AT ME! PLEASE PULL ME OVER!", but I miss driving that little car. I beat that car to hell, especially when I was a new driver and thought the neon was a rally/drift/super car. For what it is, from driving the 30k+ CTS, I have realized a very important point in life.
A car is the worst investment you can make. There is almost no ROI, unless you're in a select category. But having a car that is supposed to be a "nice" car, is really not worth the effort, unless of course, you have no problem throwing money at your problems. Which honestly doesn't teach you a thing. A car is a car is a car. It proves nothing, not your status, not how financially stable you are. Its just a pissing contest that really proves how dumb people can be. Not that I'm frowning on people who buy "nice" cars, I loved the CTS, it was a quick and comfy car. Yet, after driving the neon today, I think I like driving the neon more, I feel like the neon has more personality and more style.
hold on the dealership just called.......
