750 to 1000 hp turbo sxt CV shafts?

Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

750 to 1000 hp turbo sxt CV shafts?

Post by Psydwynder » Sun Jun 07, 2009 2:42 am

Does anyone know of a company that makes high horsepower CV shafts for non-abs 2005 sxt?
Yes it's a neon... No it's not an srt4... Oh and by the way I don't care if you like it...I love it!!!

All SXT's were non ABS, just so you know.

And you'll have to custom order axles like that, no one makes direct replacement performance axles for the non-SRT trannys as far as I know.

Although, if you swap in a SRT-4 t-850 transmission, you can use the DSS Axles on Modern Performance that can hold up to 550 hp... Don't try to use those axles in the t-350 because they won't work.

I'd rather an axle snap than the transmission break.

You can get DSS stage 5 axles, they hold some serious power. You are looking in the $1k price range though. If you want decent axles that don't break, get some DSS stage 3's.

Yeah I knew about the sxt's and the abs... That was for everyone elses benefit...Just in case. I would love to put the srt-4 tranny in, question is will it mount to the 2.0 and whats the pcm gonna do... Then again the pcm is only controlling the chassis electronics, cause I'm putting in a megasquirt. Tranny is fully built and warrantied by the shop in writting upto 1200 hp. I don't mind the 1k price. I've had an CV axel break doing a burn out in a jdm gt-four celica it wasn't nice...MAJOR engine, suspension, and chassis damage. Not to mention I had to change underwear.

You already have a built T-350? I'd say custom axles are the only way to go then. Talk to the shop who built your trans and see what they think.

DSS will make whatever you want, although you may have to send them some cores for measurements.

With enough of a budget, anything is possible. Especially when you have paid people like myself for your parts... :)

It's totally different in a neon. All it does is thumb, and then you hit your rev limiter. I've done it in two neons so far. Launching both times.

Rage-Tek or whatever builds a dogbox SRT trans, it bolts up to the neon block, but uses different stuff for the hydraulic clutch setup. The electronics are (I believe) the same.

motor pics

Post by Psydwynder » Tue Jun 09, 2009 1:54 am

I'm gonna post pics of the motor when I start building it. Still working on details. And when its done anyone who wants to drive it...bring you and your neon on down to NoProblem raceway here in louisiana and I'll be more than happy to let you drive it. Hell, I'll rent the track for a day and we all can run on the road course and drag race a lil.

Heard back from dss

Post by Psydwynder » Thu Jun 11, 2009 10:56 pm

I heard back fromn dss today and they said they could make custom ones to handle 1000hp. The guy I was talking to told me to sit down when I asked what the price was. I'm looking at $2800 plus tax and shipping. That's a whole lot more than what I thought they would be. Good thing is that includes the new upgraded hubs. He told me that if it was him he would switch to the srt4 tranny, but he couldn't tell me for sure if it would work with the 2.0 engine. Guess I'm going search the tranny/drivetrain forums and find out.

IIRC the T-850 will bolt up, but there are issues with the clutch. Something having to do with clearance. Someone who knows chime in and clear this up.

IIRC, the clutch assy is only a problem if you are going to use it(SRT) in the t-350.

I don't think there would be any issues, since the T-850 bell housing is obviously made for the SRT clutch.
And the 31th ATX bolts to the 2.4, so it should work. The only issue is a bracket needs to be fabbed for the equal length half shaft to bolt to. The 2.4 I believe has it cast into the block?

I hope your car has so much grip, and your axles are epic and fullproof, so that when you hit the gas in your 1000hp neon it rips all the stickers off the side of your car.
