What store are you from?

Looks like you're in a Concept 4 Store.. Probably a 45k judging from the size of your Geek Precinct.

I'm a PPM in the Fort Myers area.

I'm certified to do In-Home Magnolia Home Theater installs. But I was never a Geek. Those LED Samsungs are nice, I'm just not a fan of their viewing angles and the inconsistency of their Black Levels. Install looks clean though.

You got it all right, concept 4 year 1999, and 45k. Store number is 434, Roanoke, VA, district 43. I work mornings at the precinct everyday but Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday if you ever need to call :D.

I worked nearly a year in product process before my schooling finally paid off and I became a DA on deck. I do in-home computer and home theater.

The other installers and I pride ourselves in doing better work than any other company in our area. The install I pictured there was about $2,000 in labor. Lots of other things we did for them that I did not take pictures of. Whole home audio was included.

And as for the LED Samsung, I can live with all of their faults. All you have to do is watch one blu-ray movie on them and you will be sold.

Seriously though, if you ever have a Geek Squad related question your store cannot answer put me in your contact list. I like to solve the tough issues. :D

Man, Do i know my Best Buys or what. lol

Your district (USO) must be one of the test markets for DAs doing Home theater installs. We haven't gotten that far down here. We still have 2 very different teams for HT and PC.

I still prefer Plasmas when it comes to TVs. I'd rather watch a Blu-Ray on my Panasonic 50" (TH-50PZ80U) than any of the LEDs we carry. I much rather have more true to life realistic colors, 480hz refresh rates, and deeper black levels. :)

You ever post on Watercooler? I believe I'm one of only 3 managers in the company that regularly posts in Off the wall

Yea, good call on my store. I've seen pretty much all of the revenue bands and concepts through the years. I prefer the Jill stores when it comes to their precincts. Frosted glass and whatnot.....epic...

I am the only DA in Virginia certified and insured to do home theater installs. My store sells more home theater work than we have installers. So, I pick up the slack when they need help.

You are right about that Panasonic..It is beautiful. I have an Insignia 32" LCD :(. Too many other bills to pay to afford a better TV.

I don't really use the watercooler. I don't have enough time while I'm at work to utilize it, and lets face it, I'm more interested in this forum when I'm at home .

BTW, how long have you been with Best Buy? I started February 11, 2006.

Been with BBY since June of 06. Opened the Gulf Coast store in Fort Myers as the HT Supervisor, was promoted to MHT Supervisor and then in April of 08 I was promoted to Product Process Manager and opened another store across town in Fort Myers.

I'm trying to get up to the district/territory/corporate level, and eventually into Best Buy International. People have told me that I should look into becoming a GM, but I really do not want to run a store. I want out of the store level and impact the company in a larger role.

Have you seen the new "True Blue" aka Concept 6 stores? That's what my new store is. I don't think its as pretty as a Jill store, but it sure is a lot more functional than the Concept 4 and 5s.

Awesome. I know a geek, my brother-in-law! He works out of the Arundle Mills store in MD, he used to work out of the Annapolis, MD store until his divorce went sour (his ex wife works there too).

Mox: I actually have not seen the concept 6 stores yet. I haven't had a district training in a while so I haven't had a chance to stop by a new store. Being a GM would suck IMO. Way too much responsibility. District/territory/corporate work would definitely be the way to go.

Jerry: The Arundle Mills store is pretty decent. I visited Annapolis and D.C. in January and stopped in to check that store out.

Canada: I don't mind answering your technical related questions at all, and don't believe a word Mox says. If he works at Best Buy, he is a geek. :D

I love Best Buy. I buy all my electronics there. I spend so much money there that they upgraded my regular Rewards Zone to the Premium Silver. I love the point banking. I'm saving up my points and gift cards to get computer parts for the computer I'm building and a netbook.

Anyway, what's "concept 6"?

GreeNeons: The simple way to put concepts is that they are just different store designs. The netbooks are pretty badass. I like http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 8068507709 that one. I've had the best luck with it as far as operating like a decent computer. Some of the cheaper ones just plain suck.

It's nice to see someone praise Best Buy instead of bash us..lol..

Trinity: Looks like a truck night :D. Unless you are doing counts...but who does counts that late at night. I've never been to that store but it seems to be about the same size as mine based off of that picture.

Its a type of store. There aren't any gondolas taller than like 5'6". You can look from one side of the building to the other side, it creates a nice open feeling and makes the store seem bigger than it is. We also use a different color scheme with fixtures, carpet, paint, etc. Its made to feel really homey and less "40billion dollar corporation." A lot of C-6 stores have skylights and other Eco-friendly features.

Make $30 on a cable, lose $100 on a laptop.. hmmm. Every store, no matter what they sell has to mark certain things up to recoop the losses from other categories. We are lowering the retail of several cables throughout the stores. For instance, the Dynex HDMI cable is going down to 19.99 from 49.99.. Its a business and businesses do not stay in business if they can't make money.

All the Walmarts around here are staffed with terribly qualified high school employees. It is very rare to find someone that has any real knowledge working. I'm not suggesting all Walmarts are like that, just the 6 or so around here.

One of my managers worked for them when Sam Walton was still alive. He said they were good to work for then. After Sam died my manager said they went downhill. The Walmart that came into my town put at least 8 local businesses out.

The Best Buy stores up here in Canada are decent places.

But, when entering one I always feel like I have walked into a night club... except the lights are on full bright.

Holy Crap... I am on sensory overload by the time I escape.
