RT springs

Post by onewickedkid05 » Fri Jun 19, 2009 12:36 am

So i was looking for the 1gn RT springs im not sure if these are it but this is the message i got from the guy

I checked them and only two of them still have the labels. The numbers on them are 4656283 and 5273416. One says SDE and one says STD. I looked in the faq and couldn't find any reference to an STD suspension, but from the information I have gathered all 1st gen rear springs are the same, and SDE is what the R/Ts came with in the front.

I don't know if you still want the springs, but what I do know is they are the springs that came off my stock '98 Neon R/T. Also, this thread: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=262547&hilit=4656283 confirms that they are real R/T springs.

from what i was reading the front SDE ones are the rt springs however the Rears he has are to short for mine i need the 285?s is this correct

what do u guys think are they the right ones

Huh... wish I wouldna seen this alot sooner...

I believe that the #283 are too short and they end up blowing the struts because of it..

Took this from the neon faqs.
Neon FAQS wrote:Lowering a PL2k with First Generation OEM Springs
Location Part Number
Left Front 5273414
Right Front 5273416
Rear (both) 4656285

Note that the #285 springs are the tallest first-generation springs ever used, and they are not currently available new. The #285 springs may be superseded by #335 springs. If you use first generation Neon springs that are any shorter (lower part number) than these, you will have insufficient travel according to the engineer that I consulted.
So I wouldn't use the rears bro..

Hey, wickedkid I have what you want. I have the Mopar Performance lowering springs for the 2nd gen which are picked from a 1st gen ACR setup.

The correct numbers are:

5273415 drivers side
5273413 pass side
4656285 x2

I am switching to a stiffer spring and will have mine for sale in the coming weeks. They have less than 1500 miles on them. Let me know if you're interested. The drop and handling is great. They are just a little too soft for the terrible roads in Pittsburgh
