That is with the plugs in (under full cranking load). With no compression it should crank a bit longer before overheating. I wouldn't go for a 5 minute run, but common sense would hopefully prevail there.

Besides a little heat in the (starter) motor won't hurt the soaked little bastid anyways. It might not hurt to pull the starter and pop the end off a little, just enough to spray some WD-40 in there too.

Dude that sucks! I have helped repair/replace 3 hydrolocked engines in the past 3 years and everytime it was just a "little" puddle or they were just ideling through.

One of my buddies rolled out of a macdonolds parking lot onto the road....coasted and hit a puddle. Killed his engine immediatly.....bent the no. rod.

One thing you do have going for you though is that in all of my days dealing with this I have yet to see a 4 cylinder damage more then just one rod/piston. They all bent or snaped just one....the others were always fine.

Well that sucks.

But hey, at least you know now that it does need to be rebuilt. As you can imagine if the internals were ok it wasn't that bad to get it going again. Imagine pulling the engine to get it going again just to find you could have gotten away with this kind of effort.

But yeah, definate pull engine and inspect time.

CAI nothing. You can hydrolock an engine with a stock intake just as well.

No shit, but the CAI makes it more likely to happen and in less water.

I'll be dropping the pan tomorrow. Way to tired today. I'm really hoping that the crank and block are fine.

CAI or not I was fucked lol. There were 3 other stock height/intake cars that got stuck right when I did too.

I just saw some pics of some flooding north of here in Ionia county. There was a country fest there and a river overflowed the fairgrounds leaving 1000 cars flooded.
