how hard is it to replace front WHEEL berring?
i can handle removing the spindle just fine, my only question is about removing the old berring and pressing in the new one...is that hard or a piece of cake? i can rent the tool from a nearby autostore, but if its hard i'd rather pay a shop for one hour of labor and call it a day. thanks guys

well i saw a press at the autostore when i returned the spring compressor that said that can pull the berring and push it in while the hub is on the car. anyone ever try that sucker??
i'm thinking about being a bitch though and prettending like it wasnt me that fucked it up and take in for warranty...the car hasnt even hit 7k yet

it was pooring like a mofo a couple weeks back and i hydroplaned into teh side of the sidewalk a few blocks away from my house
i changed that wheel to the back because it got scratched fairly well in two places. i've never taken a car in for warranty work so i'm sorta paranoid over how many questions they will ask over this....i probably will take it in i guess... might as well try

yeah i bit the bullet and called 'er in today for an appointment tomorrow. i'm worried about the scratched rear rim that used to be in the front when i hit that curb. my plan is to say that those are the rims off my other car (its true i have 2 neons that i interchange wheels on, just not theseBlackRoseRacing wrote:do you have a drivetrain warranty?
wheel bearings are covers under it! just play stupid, and say you have a grinding noise in the front of your car. If the TECH is good, he will realize thats a wheel bearing, and you will be set...
i told them there is noise coming from the front wheel, and i tried to ride it out until the next service but its been getting a little louder so i decided to bring it in

The point of a warranty is to cover manufacturing defects not physical damage caused during use. That's why warrantees don't cover when people kill engines using nitrous oxide and the like. If the wheel bearing failed under normal use, then fine. If dodge covers this sort of thing from happening, then fine. Every time someone lies to the dealer about what really caused the problem to get the dealer to pay for it causes prices to go up. I don't care for that.

yeah stealerships rip you off constantly, i definately dont feel bad making them pay for the odd thing every now and then. i went to the dealership i bought the car from, since i bought some parts from them before and i figured they would be the nicest to me and the most eager to help. i was certainly wrong. the service manager used every excuse in the book after the service rep tried to pull the same crap on me.
basically according to them even changing the wheels changes the suspension and the low profile tire puts extra strain on the bearring every time it hits bumps which was complete bullcrap. i call him on it so he turns to plan B telling me how no no no, you replaced the breaks with performance sloted rotors, you replaced your struts, NO NO NO i wont do it. so i says "fine, you foreyed dork, because of your stubberness i will pay for the $50 part out of my own pocket, but you can forget me ever setting foot in this dealership again... i hope it was worth it". i mean screw him, not once during our conversation did hitting a curb even come up. he was dead set on not helping me, so for that he can suck my
, i'm moving on... so to sum up, ripping off the dealerships that rip customers off should be encouraged as much as possible; however if you get constant good service, i agree, dont screw them over

thanks for clearing that out... makes me feel a little better. the noise isnt bad so i'm just gonna wait until the next scheduled maintenence when i will just drop it in and see if they can pick it out on their own (i'll have stock rims on of courseBlackRoseRacing wrote:the only way another dealer will know you were somewhere else is if a warranty claim and or a recall was done on your vehicle. any maintance or regular repairs are only kept on file at the repairing dealership.
I have yet to be ripped off by my local dealer. I also don't approach them every time to do business with the attitude that they're trying to screw me, so I'm going to screw them first.dblsg wrote:^^![]()
how many time do the dealers rip off the consumer?
nuff said.
I might have a good dealer. Who knows why I don't have problems? I'm sure that if I felt they were trying to screw me (and I have gotten that feeling from the local Mitsu dealer when I was looking at buying a GSX before I bought the R/T), I wouldn't have done business with them in the first place.

a dealer CAN NOT PROOVE WITH OUT A DOUBT!! that him hitting the curb is what made the bearing go bad.

well what really got me was after the dealer told me they wouldnt fix it, i had to pay $60 canadian for the time it took them to diagnose, though they never got as far as even taking the wheels off. i wanna go back and argue with the service manager i talked to that i want my money back...well i might just write the dealership a letter or email him directly, though i may just phone him and give him a piece of my mind...followed by a drive down to the dealership and handing him a piece of my ass too to munch on
