Post by LilSparkPlug » Tue Jun 23, 2009 3:57 pm

My friend Bethany and her boyfriend Irvin's 99 EJ8s on our way to a show this past Saturday.

I almost cropped the mirror out of this one until I looked in it. This made me laugh my ass off. Face of strangulation by Nikon strap.

Bethany's ride is awesome. But it does look like her rear bumper and lip's paint are fading a bit.

I dont like the blue/black, Nothing about it flows at all. I really like the all black but I think it would look sick with a real light smoke to the rear tail lights. Nice strangulation pic!!

I def like her car better then his, much cleaner and looks very well put together.

Pics are not bad for driving and shooting, next time try to slow your shutter speed down a bit to blur the background to make the cars look for prominent :)

The blue one looks like its on a path to fail. Looks very late 90's (not good).

Love the black car though ;)

His girlfriend's car is WAAYYYYYY better looking that his. He should take some notes from her, lol.

Be careful strangling yourself while driving, I don't want to hop on here one day and see a thread about you crashing because you were taking rolling shots and passed out.

J-Villa: Thanks :D

Tam: Her car has a Maaco paint job, it was that way when she bought it. She's stripping it down and having it re-done next year. The car, when she bought it, had hardly any interior panels it was missing stuff left and right. It was in really neglected condition for only having 50k on it. It's come a long way in the past month however.

Grambo: Agreed :D

DOSNeons: They're Rotas :D

Sean: Thank you! LOL And I'm not ha ha that was a rare occurence.

Canada: I was shooting in aperture priority rather than manual. If I were able to actually look through the viewfinder (i.e. as a passenger in a car) then I think I would have been able to adjust more accordingly. But I chose Aperture priority since I was driving.

OB: Irvin plans on stripping his car down and re-painting it also. He doesn't want to lower it despite us badgering him about it often. He also has another set of wheels, black, that need new tires.

Nate: Ha ha me too!

Suave: LOL I'll try not to, and yes her car is much sexier than his.

[quote="LilSparkPlug"] despite us badgering him

badger ???!!!!!!

Are you gonna help Brittany with the paint job redo, or are you gonna let her boyfriend help her and attack her car with a grinder too ??!!

One of my friends has a Honda like that. Years ago he bought a wrecked Integra RSX that we gutted and transplanted everything into the Honda. Car had 16K on it when he hydrolocked it which led to the swap, but it has over 100K on it now and passes NJ incpection with flying colors and is a fast little car

Crystal, you amaze me you have yet to wreck the car while shooting pictures, although it probably won't be a bad wreck because you were going so slow

I'm not actually looking through the camera at all. I'm just holding it out and shooting in continuous mode. Out of 100 shots these came out the best. The Nikon D40 doesn't have a screen where you visualize the shot, you need to look through the viewfinder, not possible as a driver. We took them when it was only us three for awhile on the road. Bethany asked me to so I did.

If she wants me to I will. I offered beforehand telling her she couldn't save that paint job as it was.

Common misconception. The camera doesn't take the pictures, you do. I've seen people with some of the best DSLR cameras in the world and their shots come out like any old point and shoot. It's more of a thing of knowing what settings to use and when. I'm by no means an expert at it, I'm still learning. But put a DSLR in someone's hand and you won't get great pictures unless they know how to use it.
