MOre cooling
could and if possible install a bigger radiator? thne stock? just wondering. My car isn't over heating just want to know if its possible to chill my car some more?
Bigger? Probably, but it would have to be something custom. Even the aluminum radiators for our cars have the same core thickness.
If the cooling system is maintained and the components are in good shape you should have no cooing issues.

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

No need for a bigger rad. Hell my condenser is a pile of mush restricting air flow, i run much richer coolant mixtures, and in the summer it still doesn't even come close to over heating while sitting parked on the highway for hours on end with the ac cranked.
it would take a severe amount of forced induction before that cooling system ever becomes over taxed.

A neon just plain doesn't weigh enough to worry about it. At idle, they don't make much heat, and it doesn't take much power to get up to speed. And then by the time you're moving, enough air flows that it's not an issue. Hell, some of the turbo guys actually put in smaller radiators just to save space.

i'll bite. what's your purpose for this? (hint: it's a pointless thing to do, waste of money on gaskets and time spent)alsey_seven wrote:03blackrt wrote:Changing the thermostat is the only way to run the engine cooler.
A bigger radiator/fan will only allow the capability of dissipating more heat.
IN the summer time i have an always Open thermostate. inthe winter time when i need heat i replace it with a reg thermostat

I think KOYO makes an aluminum HD radiator for the SRT-4. Im sure you can make it work on a normal neon.

There was a pic in someone's thread that showed the SRT being thicker. Hell, may even be in the swap thread. It's been a while since I seen it....
As for running with no t'stat, that can lead to overheating also. That coolant needs time in the radiator to loose it's heat. If it is flowing too fast, it doesn't cool as well. Just something to consider.
And if it is too cold, the oil isn't at peak lubricity.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

I just had an OE style koyo put in my car this morning - it only cost $160. Aside from the bling bling polished end tanks vs the plastic on the OE the core will be the same that's for sure.
I don't know if people realize just how robust the stock cooling system is.The rad in this thing is as big if not bigger than the one in my escort. That car shared the same rad as the mustang.

And running too cold of a thermostat is a bad idea as well, there is an optimal temperature for proper engine performance. On these computer controlled cars it can play havoc on the fuel trim since coolant temp is one of the more important sensors the pcm uses to calculate with.occasional demons wrote:There was a pic in someone's thread that showed the SRT being thicker. Yet another old school technique that doesn't quite work on these computer controlled engines.
