Stock Hood vs. Carbonfiber Hood.

Post by IGotYourDoughnut » Mon Jun 29, 2009 8:58 pm

Ok, so for some reason the paint on my hood keeps almost dissolving. I thought it might have been somthing like someone playing a prank and throwing coke or windex on the hood, but when i got it re painted it happened again. So I came to the conclusion it was heat damage. So I changed the insulation out, and repainted it and guess what, Same thing... Always in different spots. So I'ma try a new hood. Would I have better chances at getting a Carbonfiber hood or should I just buy the stock hood? I don't now much of the difference between the 2 materials... soooo... yah.

carbon fiber. it doesn't retain heat at all. the muffler on my bike is cool to the touch after hours of riding, while the piping to it is hot enough to fry a dozen eggs.

Carbon Fiber +1

...too bad you didn't decide before repainting it... that money would have gone a long way towards buying a CF hood!

i'd really try figuring out why the paint is doing what it is doing first.

Is the paint doing that over a day? Or a week? and is it happening in your home's parking lot?
