Do you hate your job?
I am bored at work so I figured I would post a topic....
Does anyone hate their job?
Tired of dealing with morons you work with?
If so lets hear some stories...
unfortunately I work on a IT Helpdesk supporting government comps...Daily I wonder how people are hired into their jobs at this place/government.
We support everything from computers to BlackBerries. Users should not have access to this equipment sometimes.
Example:
Call from user, had to remote control into the users system.
Me: open Internet Explorer...
....Pause.....
User: Whats internet explorer?
Me: The application you use daily to get to the company homepage.
...Pause..
User: I do not have that on my computer
Me: Do you go into the homepage when your in the office
User: Yes
Me: It is the blue E that is located on your desktop.
User: I do not have that
Me: Go into Start-->Programs-->Internet Explorer
...Pause...
User: It is not listed.
This is 5 min convo...

That's why I can't work in Tech Support, I don't have the patience.
I don't really hate my job, it's defiantly not what I want to do for the rest of my life but right now it pays somewhat decent, stress free, no weird hours and very little supervision so I don't have someone watching over my shoulders. That right there is so nice that whenever I quit here I'd miss that the most. I hate dealing with some of the public but since I don't have to spend too much time with each person I don't let it bother me.
Some of the stuff I see makes me laugh like "I've been here for two hours!?!? I'm hungry and want to go home!" when they're here to do their preassesment so they can ask questions about your medical history, drugs you're on... things that if not noted could lead to death during your surgery. So if that's the case, unless you could care less about your life and being that you're here having surgery and no one is forcing you to do that... if it takes all day to make sure everything is okay, it's probably worth it so you wake up.

My job isn't too bad, it's just that I work with idiots and they make the day really painful by asking me the same stupid questions every 20 minutes.

I hate my job. I really really really hate my job. I have to commute 65miles one way to get to work through some of America's worse traffic to get paid a shitty wage (when I'm on hourly work) or an even more shitty commission rate with a company that bends over backwards to try and not pay you for the work you do and offers medical that is so piss poor it isn't even worth having. I have never had to work so damn hard in my life at any particular job to earn only 28k/year, I wish I were able to have a job that enabled me to be board. I hate my job and can hardly wait for the employment market to get better.
This thread is depressing.

Everyone knows that for breasts to be "perfect" they need to be within reach.
I work part-time at a university bookstore, so automatically people hate me.
I'm not going to even go into details of how much I hate my job. I love the hours, I like to help the customers, I don't even mind the 1 hour drive to work, but I definately don't get paid enough to put up with some of the stuff that goes on there.

I was going to list what i don't like about my job(s), but the more i thought about it, the more i realized that i've worked some pretty shitty jobs in my life. And that a lot of people are just hating life right now becuase of their job
So to answer the question; No, I don't hate my job(s), Mostly because i take pride in my job. I almost look forward to going to work most days. Its always something new, and the harder the work, the more i am rewarded.

After working in IT for 14 years and hating every minute of it, what I do now is a breeze (even if I do have to put it 54 hours a week between my two jobs). My current full-time supervisor is only the third boss I've had in over 30 years of employment who really appreciates my work. I've got it pretty good.

I do cabling work as a contractor for the DoD. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. The job itself is pretty good, but some of the people I work with (and for) can get irritating. Some of the people I have to do work for have this attitude about them that "Yeah, I'm the shit, and my shit don't stink, you're a lesser person than me and I'm going to complain to your supervisor because of it".
Gee, Lady, I'm so sorry that I couldn't get a brand new fiber and phone connection installed in less than an hour to your desk. And I'm even more sorry that IT'S NOT MY FUCKING JOB to bring the computer out to your desk and hook it up and have it running. IT'S NOT MY FAULT that it's going to take another week for that shit to get here. Yes, I have to tell you my name so you can complain about my workmanship.
Lately though, things have been extremly slow, to the point where I'm worried about my job, and the people I work with.

HAHAHA the person you're referring to is me cable-boy! The building you work in is the worst in the industry, well, besides the one in Charlottesville.invujerry wrote:I do cabling work as a contractor for the DoD. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. I love my job. I get to kill bad guys, I get paid well. Only thing I don't like are the deployments. Well, not the deployments, but leaving my awesome GF and my family.

How do you get excited in killing bad guys if you don't like deployments? I'm kinda sad that I might not be able to squeeze another deployment in before I get out... that's where the money's at (especially if you're married... omg...). Plus, deployments = stupid rules out the window. Garrison is too much stress...PhillyLS1 wrote:HAHAHA the person you're referring to is me cable-boy! As for my job, I don't fancy it at all. There's just numerous things in the Marine Corps that aren't worth the stress, late nights, and low pay.
Haha, I was going to say "Well, people like Philly" but I left it out. Tell me about the building, believe me I know. The building in Arlington is a little worse though. We're doing a "beautification" job right now. They are only changing the floor carpet and paining, but the cabling infrastructure is the same. There is still shit in place from the fucking 80's, that we can't pull out.PhillyLS1 wrote:HAHAHA the person you're referring to is me cable-boy! And it's "The fiber-guy" , not "the cable-boy"!

I'm not in the military anymore. I'm freelance now. When I'm deployed it's boring. So I miss my family the whole time.2005.Neon.SXT wrote: How do you get excited in killing bad guys if you don't like deployments? Oh ok. I can't remember what you used to do... if it was ever brought up. Being bored on any deployment (to include training ops lasting months) is killer. We came back from Twentynine Palms, Cali this past Sunday (was there the whole month of June) and they had to pull me out of the field the last 2 weeks because I got a cornial abrasion (piece of fiber in my eye, scratched, had PRK surgery couple months ago, etc.) so I was back at the Camp while everyone was out doing their thing... there's a point where you can only watch so many movies man lol... it sucked.PhillyLS1 wrote:I'm not in the military anymore. I've taught/instructed at 29 palms and NTC (Ft. Irwin) and you're right, it's terrible. There's nothing to do once you get outside the gate either. My mom had a blood test scheduled at the hospital a while back... they are usually very good but for some reason on that day they let her site for 4 hours.
She said nothing... just walked out and went home to get something to eat.

Took a new job about 3 months ago and couldn't be happier. I work 50-60 hrs a week but pay is decent, I live less than 10 minutes away, and the profit sharing is pretty good. No complaints from me.
