Mopar Short Throw and Booger Bushings FTW
I got my short throw a few weeks ago and finally got around to installing it yesterday, took about an hour to swap it out (stock bushings SUCK to get out BTW), slapped my short throw in and bam. Shifts like a totally different car, used to be really sloppy, didnt feel like it went into gear, now it clicks into gear with zero sloppy shifts. Positive gear change FTW. I dont have any pics as there isnt alot to it. Ive got some super secret aesthetic mods left to do

How to fix your car:
1. Buy a Haynes manual
2. Read Haynes maual
3. Read and search appropriate threads, trust us, it's been covered before
4. Fix car
5. Consume beer of job well done

I rock that too. I would suggest 3 more things...
Johnnymopar cradle bushings
Cut the shifter down right below the notch for the factory knob.
Install a MPx billet shift knob.
That combo is pure sex

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

It's a nice setup, but I much prefer Maddog's STS. I'm using the 72%, JohnnyMopar's bushings, and Jeff Ball's boogers. It's very notchy, but so fast, I can pop 2-3 in around 1/10 of a second.
ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

Except for the fact the cradle bushings don't do a heck of a lot, the billet knob is a weight gain compared to the stock plastic (which by the way doesn't burn the hell out of my hand in the summer or freeze to my glove like a billet one will), and shifters cut too low are just dumb. At lest for me stock height is perfect.Danteneon wrote:I rock that too. I would suggest 3 more things...

The 80% is the shortened rod. 72% is the full length rod with the same height. 72% is the shortest he makes, but with the shorter rod, it's calculated to 80%. It sounds like you and I have the same setup!Nutmeg wrote:I've got an 80% Maddog at stock height with cradle bushings and boogers. It is very notchy, but is super short and a blast to drive.

I did notice the difference with the cradle bushings. There was still a little give in the shifter that I didn't like before they were installed.fixitmattman wrote:Except for the fact the cradle bushings don't do a heck of a lot, the billet knob is a weight gain compared to the stock plastic (which by the way doesn't burn the hell out of my hand in the summer or freeze to my glove like a billet one will), and shifters cut too low are just dumb. The extra weight improves the throw for me.
The knob does burn/freeze your hand though
Strange, the height is perfect to me
