launch control? = cruise control?
If - you can rip it out a junkyard Neon. You only have to look for the steering wheel switches - they are different in <03 and 03+...

lmfao

Cruise control = cruise control

Launch control is basically a rev limiter while the clutch is depressed and your foot is on the gas.

aaaahhh - okay.
Like a wot-box?

Then forget what i wrote...

Hmm - when it works while the clutch is depressed - how do you wanna install it in an automatik?

And for WHAT? You stay on the gas while it shifts and you should not switch to from N to D while on WOT if you don't wanna kill your tranny very fast! With an atx you cannot race like mtx (full gas, 1st gear, let the clutch hopp). Okay - you can - but not often or you have a bunch of spare trannys somewhere...

If the the GT-R can't handle launch control without f'n up the tranny, what makes you think your Neon needs/can handle it? There's a reason they discontinued this feature after the first year.

And if you did have it, all that would happen is you would spin, or just bog down your engine. You do realize this is essentially the same as powerbraking right? Except instead of holding the brakes, it holds the torque converter untill said RPM.

A few points:
The GTR doesnt have a traditional atx, its one of those DSG things. Incidentally packing that much crap into a standard size transmission case sort of causes everything to be just sturdy enough to last(not last in the GTRs case)

In anything with a torque converter a launch control would just load up the converter. So foot on the brake, foot on the throttle, let the engine build up to the stall speed, take foot off brake.

A high-stall converter would be your closest equivalent for an ATX.

In drag racing, a transbrake is a setup installed in automatic transmissions which selectively places the transmission in first and reverse gears simultaneously, effectively holding the race car stationary as if the foot brake was applied. The transbrake is activated by the driver by applying electrical current to a solenoid at the transmission. With the transbrake engaged (transmission locked), the engine throttle can be increased to any position (opening) in preparation for launch without the race driver worrying about the car creeping forward. Milliseconds before the green light illuminates on the Tree the transbrake is released (by the driver releasing an electrical switch or by a delay box "timing out" originally triggered by the driver releasing an electrical switch) and the car launches forward, its engine already in the higher power band and the transmission already in low gear.

Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transbrake"
But finding one for the 31TH/A413 may prove to be a challenge. They are available for the 904/727 TF's V8 app's
Edit: Not much help....

Sure is. He has the 3-speed so there is a pretty decent aftermarket backing that transmission. It was used in a number of Chrysler vehicles.

He is faster the said blackexican could ever hope to be. Who else wants to see that from the FIA, an all stars sort of race. Dig up Senna's corpse, Mika Hakkinen, Jensen Button, Lewis Hamilton, Suchmacher, Andretti. Tell me that wouldnt be cool.

Some stupid computer controls everything else on that car though, why not let it control launch as well? :banghead:

I turn off Traction Control, and Stability control. The only thing on is the Active Yaw Control.

S-AWD set to Tarmac..

um

Yea and drive by wire.

There's a lot of computer controlled stuff on this car, but I really don't need it controlling traction, stability, or launching.
