srt 4 exhaust question

Post by synviper » Wed Jul 08, 2009 5:18 pm

okay well ive been looking into getting a new full exhaust soon 3in all the way.

so my question is many ppl have side exhaust that only comes out the driver side, has anyone seen or heard of dual side exhaust coming out the driver side and passenger side?

if not, if i get a custom exhaust done would that would come out both sides would that rob or hurt any potential horsepower?

sorry if this is a repost

and thanks in advanced for any advice

Exhaust fabrication is essentially limitless. You could install a y-pipe after the midpipe and weld two tailpipes onto those, easily accomplishing your plan. The problem would be finding a muffler/resonator that will quiet the exhaust down enough and fit in the small amount of pipe you have left between the cat and y-pipe. SRTs can get away with it because the turbo quiets the exhaust naturally.

3" piping is overkill for a NA engine. Even 2.5" is pushing it on a stock 2.0L. Stick with stock 2.25" piping if you're worried about power. Much larger and you'll more than likely lose a few ponies. The Neon has an excellent exhaust from the factory. The bottlenecks are the cylinder head and the muffler.

Side exit exhausts are illegal in most states.
They also sound like ass on our cars, and get very irritating if your windows are down.
Unless you're doing 2 side exit exhausts for looks, you're basically waste'n money from a mods perspective.
