On stock wheels? I've heard of several people using 225mm tires on stockers with no problems whatsoever.04R/T wrote:They'll hit the tension rods in back.
OP: If they do indeed rub, just get SRT tension struts, or grind a bit of material off your stockers. I don't think you'll have an issue, but I can't say for sure. I assume 04R/T has tried.

Have them mount one, and test fit, - unless you are having them shipped.

The SRT tension rods are the same as regular Neon, it's the knuckle that's different. The hole in the knuckle where the tension rod attaches is further inboard and this moves the rods in for tire clearance.
I ran 225/45-16 on a 16x7 wheel with a 40 offset and they barely cleared. When I needed new tires that size was no where to be found so I had the shop try a 225/50. They mounted it and installed it on the car. It fit ok up front but in the rear it was up against the tension rod hard. I ended up with a set of 205/50's which I don't like, they look skinny compared to the 225's.
I have since installed SRT rear knuckles on my car so there is more room, I think 225/50's may fit now. I don 't know, maybe a spacer would work for you, but you have to watch the clearance at the fender lip as the tire moves out.

With 205/50 16's they are very close to the lip with the Eibach Pro's
