Split caliper bracket??
Split caliper bracket??
Dealer mentioned that some bracket that holds the caliper on was split or something. It definitly rattles, but they couldn't really tell me what the part I needed was. Any ideas?

Gimme a few i'll find you a picture. Also, are you wondering for front or rear.
I'm not 100% sure on price, but i'd likely just get one from a junkyard since they are abundant, so long as its an r/t, or 00-01lx. They are cast iron so its hard to imagine how they cracked, but yea, see if you can track down a new one, if not, junkyard trip.

I just don't see a dealer letting you drive away with a failure of that magnatude, with out you signing a waiver. The liabilty would be way more than they would risk. If it failed, chances would be high, that injury, or death would be the key words in the accident report.
If there was any kind of structural failure in the knuckle it wouldn't bode well. You would prolly spin the car if braking in a panic stop, or hard brake situation. Because there would no longer be brakes on one side. The caliper would rotate with the rotor, until the line failed.
Even if it was one of the small ears that the pins thread into, there is a huge risk.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
