Just think before welding shockingly they make specialty welding flux that works very well to clean stuff before welding. No need to use brake clean.

I'm not sure why you'd spray something down and then immediately begin welding, but hey...

Every place in CA has "chemicals that can cause cancer or birth defects." Prop "65" warning I believe. If it isn't water, fruit, or vegetable dang near, it needs to have a warning. :tardbang: There are very few places anymore that don't have those warning signs up.

Isn't phosgene basically nerve gas? I believe you get the same thing when freon (R12/R22 don't know about 134A) hits open flame.

Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.

Depending what/how you're cleaning it's pretty common to clean then immediately start welding. Usually acetone is better for cleaning though.

9/10 when you use a cleaner like that, by the time you turn around, put your chemical/rag away, and start welding, it's dried up. You just have to watch out for vapor.

Thank you for posting this, Frank.

Reading the article, makes me wonder what would have happened to the guy *if* he didn't open the door and use the fan for a little extra ventilation.

He may have been a goner.... DONE IN in by a little white puff of smoke. :(

Scary to think that so little, could outright kill a man, let alone disable him for life.
