bye bye altezza's

Post by srtgtr34 » Thu Jul 30, 2009 10:55 pm

Ever since I got the car, I hated the chrome tail lights. They just didn't fit in. So they aren't chrome anymore...

I put two light coats on the tailights, then masked off the reverse light and murdered the rest of the light with nightshades. Followed by 3 coats of u-pol I had left from my wheels and they came out pretty dam good.

I had to turn the flash on to capture the difference between the dark tint and the light tint since I took this pic inside. Unfortunately the flash completely got rid of the tint on the reverse lights.

I will get installed picture tomorrow. Hopefully by then the Tokicos that I got installed today have settled. Right now the car sits about an inch higher, not to happy about that..

I have another set of tails that will be here tomorrow that I am going to do the same thing to.

you can't even tell the reverse light has been tinted...but i would have tinted the edge where you see where the light cover and backing are...just left the area of the reflector of the reverse the way it is...

But great job..can't wait to see them in the car...

The pics are coming, being uploaded now.

Image shack takes forever. Well tonight the pics will be here because it looks like one of my springs was put on upside on the drivers side rear. Sits way to high, while the other side the wheel is tucked. So i have to go and get that fixed.

Thanks.

I got them sanded and buffed this afternoon, they are smooth like glass now and really glossy. I'll try to get a good pic up tomorrow since its supposed to be nice.

On a side note i just got my project tail lights....

I have the 60 led bulbs on the way, which means i will be selling my 48 led bulbs really soon.

The only reason I am getting the 60's is because they have 12 outward facing leds while my 48's only have 6. I like to have bright tail lights not dim ones.

Tinting the tails with the 48's in there pretty much put me back to square one, as in up to par with stock bulb brightness, in stock housings. Now hopefully with the 12 extra leds, they will brighten up a little more.

Thank You.

Uh the project tails, what a day for them...

I opened the box this mourning and one of the tail lights had a fairly good scratch (could get fingernail in it). So i spent all day today sanding and spraying clear on the tail light.

5 hours later and it looks like it just got made.

I was so occupied with that i forgot to take my pics, so first thing tomorrow mourning before i go to work i will have the better pics.

Mother nature gave me rain... but i still got some pics.

The struts

WIth the installation of the struts the rear got about an inch higher and the front about 1/4in, and now the car looks too tall... I"m gunna miss my tucked rear wheels. Although that is partly due to the old blown struts making the rear lower

I really didn't like the tails that much at first, but they are growing on me.
