badges losing chrome foil...

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

badges losing chrome foil...

Post by Paul56 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 8:43 am

Some of my badges are looking like crap since the chrome foil is peeling... some areas the foil is gone completely while other areas still have the foil.

Anyone found a decent fix for this... other than removing the badges?

I'd consider removing the badges but I can still see a faint "LE" remaining on the body 2 years after I removed that badge.

Maybe I should just hurry the process along and peel all the chrome off... would likely look better than the way it is now... half chrome... half the matt finish underneath.

Take them off. There is a website that sells replacement pieces in metal.. Forget what its called though. My 04 when I got it in 07 had the same problem.

Happens over time. Just replace them (or leave them off).

Weird thing with mine...the Dodge lost some of it's chrome, but my Neon didn't
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

:laughing3: That must be it!

So it would seem that the "Dodge" logo (that is used on a lot of different vehicles) isn't as beefy as the "Neon" logo. Huh, I guess they knew the car needed something stronger

Just be prepared to rob a bank/vaseline store if you want to replace them.

There's a reason why I never put them back on when the door was repainted.

Mine were messed up by a detail shop. Just took them off after that.

Both ACRs are de-badged, but I do plan on redoing ACR decals on both.

Son's R/T badges look fine ('03), but the "SRT4" badge chrome on my '05 is peeling off, and it only has 16k on it. Must be a heck of a draft behind the car...
