the lights legally have to be orange because they are identificationlamps/turn signals..., but i doubt youd run into problems if you just switched em out for white... as long as you dont use colored bulbs, like blue/red etc...

come to think of it, ive never even payed attention to oncoming cars lights, other than headlights, i had to go outside to look at mine..

only problem i see is.. not a 100% on this...
you might need a flashing capable bulb? if you just stick any old bulb in there it might just blow the bulb when the flasher relay kicks on.. easily solved by not using your turn signals.. (noone uses them here.lol)

heres a copy and paste from my florida statutes.. your laws may be diff, but for this application, i doubt it..

316.224 Color of clearance lamps, identification lamps, side marker lamps, backup lamps, reflectors, and deceleration lights.--

(1) Front clearance lamps, identification lamps, and those marker lamps and reflectors mounted on the front or on the side near the front of a vehicle shall display or reflect an amber color.

(2) Rear clearance lamps, identification lamps, and those marker lamps and reflectors mounted on the rear or on the sides near the rear of a vehicle shall display or reflect a red color.

(3) All lighting devices and reflectors mounted on the rear of any vehicle shall display or reflect a red color, except the stop light or other signal device, which may be red, amber, or yellow, and except that the light illuminating the license plate shall be white and the light emitted by a backup lamp shall be white or amber. Deceleration lights as authorized by s. 316.235(5) shall display an amber color.

(4) A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

Get either the Silver Star replacement lamps, (look kind of blueish off but flash and light up amber), or the Titanuim bulbs. (they do the same thing, but look silver when off). Unless your looking for a white look at night, then regular clear two filiment bulbs. The legality issue will only take place with the clear bulbs though.

I installed silverstars into my new altezza rears and did not notice any difference in brightness. Dont was your money for bulbs in the rear. AS for using led's, I tried the AutoZone specials and the sucked!
