Transmission just went!!! :(

Post by unleashedcc » Thu Aug 13, 2009 7:22 pm

I have no clue why but it did!

I started to hear a whining noise coming from the driver side about 2 days ago. I thought it was the catalitic or something metalish since it sounded like that. I decided to flush it out since i work in a lube shop. I have always done the service every 30k and i baby my car.
All of the sudden, i was at a light and the whining noise tripled in loudness and i gave it gas it but it didnt move until i hit 3k. Im assuming my trany is gone.
*the fluid is has always been pink/red and has never smelled burned, no check engine*

Question?

- If i did blow it, is there any performance parts for the 4spd auto trany? (kits, torque converters, etc) All i find is for the 3sp.
-Any suggestions?
-Could it be something small, like a sensor, a solenoid or even the torque converter not engaging?

I cannot swap it to manual since the wifey cannot drive stick.

If it is still moving but it takes 3k to get it going, it could be that the torque converter took a dump, or your lost your low gear clutches... at 3k it might still have enough of a seal to pump some fluid into the trans to get it going... But i would think torque converter first.

as for upgrades for the 4 speed, your pretty much out of luck. sorry dude...
I need some quality entertainment...wheres the bar...

yea, i would think its the torque converted since i suppose that if it was a gear problem the transmission fluid would have that burned smell.

The car at times drives normal then in second it starts to whine n slip and some times is happens from the get-go so im almost certain that is the torque converted not engaging.
