New car joy: 09 Mazda3 i Touring

Post by jT » Sun Aug 16, 2009 5:22 am

Yeah so finally got the fiance a car. It was a bit of stress, a little bit of hassle, and we will be broke ass poor for the foreseeable future! heh.

Pre-owned with 9K on the odometer. Surprisingly we got a decent interest rate under 8%.. I wasn't expecting it to be that low!

In hind sight, though, we really should have gone insurance shopping prior to buying a car................. we found out that, for some unknown reason, insurance for this car is THROUGH THE GOD DAMN ROOF.

It's her own policy, she's 27, clean driving record, yadda yadda.. went to Amica first because that's my company and they've always been good........ they wanted $4400 a year :!: :!: :!: for full coverage. INSANE.

Went to AAA who uses Commerce, a little better but still ungodly high, $38xx/year.. the insurance payments are more than the car payments!!!!!

I've got to get some more quotes but I don't foresee getting anything too much better.. so much for the new insurance changes in MA to bring in competitive pricing!!

I've browsed a couple Mazda forums... there was a thread about insurance rates.. some 16 year old driving a MazdaSpeed3 was less than $2K/year.. there's something seriously wrong with our insurance!!

No pics right now, but i'll see if i can get some tomorrow.

My insurance on my MS3 was under $100 a month. So less than $1200 a year.

Yeah that is ridicoulous. I pay for 3 of my cars with AAA in nh. like maybe 2500 a year. i just got rid of one so it should go down even more. But then again. Insurance isn't required in NH so i could get rid of it altogether which i'm not gonna.

Congrats on the car man. It's a nice one.

As the thread turns into, "I pay this much for car insruance a month"

Those new Mazda 3's are nice. I honestly do not understand why full coverage would be so high for a 27 yr old woman with a clean slate. There must be something you don't know.

Holy hell! Those are nasty insurance prices...

I'm paying 1000 a year, full coverage and a 100 dollar deductible on my Challenger and I'm 24 so next year I expect to be paying much less.

I would keep looking around for insurance quotes and switch when you get the chance.

I wasn't directing that comment towards you but in general.

I bet the MazdaSpeed version varies with the base model Mazda 3 plus she is a female and not a male.

Dakota and the Dart are fully covered. The neon is bare min because it's not worth it. Besides, I'm still under 25. Can't wait for that day to reduce insurance.

I would open up your phone book (remember those?) and call all the independent insurance agents out there for their best quote. I have an independent agent and she deals with a bunch of companies and got my best rate through Progressive's Drive insurance.

It sounds like she had a break in her insurance at some point or another or several times. Did she ever miss a payment? If you miss or break coverage at all, you basically start over at square one and they get to screw you hard on new insurance and fees associated with them.

No, this is her first insurance policy (of her own), ever.

Massachusetts just sucks for insurance.
