Having troubles passing emissions

Post by shinta86 » Thu Aug 20, 2009 2:44 pm

So I finished a SRT swap on my 01 R/T about a year ago and now I need to get emissions. The problem is I can't get the O2, Catalyst, and Evap monitors to ready. I have disconnected the battery and drove 50+ miles multiple times now and still nothing. The car runs fine and I have no CEL's. I am at a lost on what to do.

Had a similar problem w/my '01 Cherokee...turned out it needed a new battery.

How old is your battery?

And you have these components in place, and correctly wired up (O2, Catalyst, and Evap monitors)?

I do believe so. If I didn't they should throw codes at least according to everything I read.

I'm sorry...I'm at a loss as to what the problem could be. Maybe use a voltage tester to check for voltage at each component...?

I think this came up in the 'SRT4 Swap' section. Did you swap over ALL the harnesses?

All but dash harness but I have been told and read numerous times that one isn't a concern.

The dash harness isn't needed for this concern.

So you changed the body harness that goes through the floor to the NVLDP, and you swapped out the LDP for the NVLDP?

Dumb question, but does your CEL work? I knew of one guy who had codes but never sway the light come on. It didn't work

Also, how far are you driving the car each time? How fast do you get up to and for how long? What temp does the engine get to while driving?
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Yes, I swapped out the LDP for the NVLD.

The CEL does in fact work cause I went through alot to get it to go off and I have a Scangauge that shows no DTC's.

It varies. Usually, I will go up to 45 for a few mins, 60 for a few mins and my engine temp gets up to 210. But each trip I run is about 15-20 miles. (I never swapped out the radiator or hood. I do have the fan mod switch and a 180 stat, though.)

Hmmm. With that kind of driving the monitors should be set by now :-k

Did the inspection station inform you that the monitors weren't ready? If so, when was the last time you had them check? I know I had to go back 3 times. I got them all ready except the O2. That took a longer drive.

So, I disconnected my battery drove around for a few days on highways and backroads. I even did the generic OBDII drive cycle and still nothing. Even after 200 miles the O2, Cat and EVAP monitors aren't ready. I don't know what to do anymore I was thinking about replacing the O2 sensors but wouldn't they throw a code if they were defective?

I'm at a loss here. What PCM are you using?

Can't they do an actual read of the emissions from the car? not from the computer.

Any vehicle manufactured after 1997 (OBDII) has to be read from the computer :(
