Well, it's not beer but my dad makes his own wine using a kit. It's fast, easy, and it makes the basement smell of wonderful deliciousness. :-) Plus it tastes pretty damn good.

I've been thinking about that too. They got a nice little homebrew store in the city next to mine. I still haven't gone it there but i'll let you know when i do.

Haven't done it for years, but the smell won't be as nice as fermenting wine.

Most kits these days are pretty simple/foolproof. The key is having everything sterile. I used a bleach/water solution. Do not use soap for anything. Back then, you had to mix it all in a huge stainless pot, and cook it all on the stove. Now you can just get the syrup.

I kinda prefer the mix the grain, and cook it, adding the hops at the end method. Takes a bit more effort/mess, but that is half the fun.

Dammit, now I want to run to the Grape and Grainery to spend some $. :cussing:

I've made it a few times in the past one of my friends works here:
http://www.homebrewery.com/
their kits are awesome/reasonably priced and if you have any problems they will spend hours on the phone with you walking you through everything if you need that special help.

I have a Mr. Beer kit. It is a good starter kit. The only issue I have is that the beers I've brewed already are extremely heavy. They will fill you up before you really get going.

Some of the members here have had the beer I've made it in, I brought it to Carlisle last year.

I just found the box will all the stuff in it. I think it's time to make another batch. The same company also offers a Mr. Root Beer kit.

The crapiest stuff to come out of a Mr. Beer kit is better than Coors

I love the smell of beer being brewed and fermented. in my town you go near the brewery and that's all you can smell. I love it.

Well, you don't have to have a very good beer to be better than Coors Light.

lol. coors is the best!

anything that remotely tastes like the budweiser family is horse crap.

its all personal preference though. i dont seem to like any dark stuff.. even some of the not-so-dark sam adams is a little much for my liking..

I vote that in the upcoming years at carlisle we should have an official 2gn brew off. Brew your own beer and bring it to the meet. Then we can vote on the best beer. SHould be a good time.

Meh, it would need to be at the hotel, as I doubt they would let it on the grounds. And it is illegal to transport the beer/alcohol from where it was made. Can't be sold either. (not that that was in the plan)

The transportation thing prolly wouldn't be an issue, as long as you didn't have the car packed full. Or gave them a reason to search. :D

I used the old pint returnable Pepsi bottles for the dark beer. So it wasn't really noticeable. Can't get away with that one now. Damn plastic bottles!
