Both are bad for the bondo if what I'm thinking is correct, and yes it happens even after it's hard.

Again, it's been a while since I learned about this stuff, so I may be mistaken, but I'm fairly sure it's right.

Bonding plastic (skirts) to metal/rust (car) with bondo is a bad idea too

I do not see things ending well for this car....

no it wont i have already bottomed out coming out of the parking lot at my moms apmt., it hit hard and didnt crack the bumper at all. there is fiberglass over the whole lower part of the bumper where the lip is. if it was going to come off it would have by now with the way the road are here up in ny.

i want to see this thing painted already just to see how well you sanded it. just make sure to use some good sealer before you put down your base. that bondo needs to stay dry or your gonna be up shit creek and no bondo paddle to save you

by base i mean the color coat, the sealer is like a primer but it has a "sealing" quality.

ooo got ya, the primer i am using has a sealer in it, but after today looks like i wont be doing much else to the car , other then what i have for materials and what not now,

got pulled over for speeding and no front plate, this just isnt my year, first get arrested for some bs stuff ( which is looking to work out for me ) thank god, then after court i get pulled over for 68 in a 60, but i wasnt speeding, my cc was set at 60 and there was cars in front of me, one that was way up slammed on there brakes. i had the plate in the car, . the troops was a d-bag all cocky and shit, then got even more pissed after he gave me the tickets and i asked him how i could be going 68 if the cc was set to 60 and if my speedo was off why is it no other cops pulled me over when im going 60, and asked why he didnt pull the car infront of me over that was going well over 70 ( they passed me not 1/8 mile back before the cop was seen)
he got all pissed, told me he didnt know why other havent pulled me over, but i was doing 68 and i can either ask for a trial or pay the fine.

im starting to dislike cops more and more, i can see if i did something wrong, giving me a ticket , like i can understand the plate ticket. ik u need one i didint have one on. i get ticket im fine with that but the other is BS

sealer is for the most part a coat of epoxy primer, some people use specialized sealers and crap but i have always just used epoxy. then high build primer, guide coat then block out smooth, base clear etc.

and water doesn't hurt the bondo, the water hurts the metal underneath, think of the bondo as a sponge because of it porosity, it absorbs water and retains it for long periods of time, rusting the underlying metal and also causing adhesion problems and other nasty shit when painted over. and eventually will fall out because of it losing its mechanical bond to the metal due to the deterioration of the substrate materials

another thing to keep in mind is that plastic fillers should never be used to mold or bond pieces together as it has a very weak bond if used as a adhesive between parts, it is only to be used as a filler/skim coat on the final product, to mold and bond you NEED to use a more specialized adhesive compound like those made by Lord Fusor or 3M or you will have failure. i am not trying to dash your ideas, simply stating that a bit more research should have gone into this car. its always cheaper and better to do it right the first time over the life of any given project.

another thing to keep in mind is all Bondo brand crap is just that, crap. using a better quality filler like Evercoat Rage Gold, or Evercoat Poly flex on the bumper for example would be a much better choice, so much easier to work with, feathers and blends like a dream and retains a certain amount of flexibility. in the case of the poly flex it will deform without cracking while being bent up to 180 degrees, perfect for bumper lips and other parts made of flexible "problem" plastics such as TPO/PPO and others.

i have been into auto body for a couple years as a hobby learning from friends that have much more experience than i do, and i do not claim to know it all but i have a working knowledge of many aspects of it. so take my advice for whats its worth

I was pulled over a lot because my car was mis-matched for like a year. It's not illegal to drive like that or anything, but you're more likely to be seen by police. Profiling or not, in a line of 10 cars all doing the same thing wrong, he'll pull YOU over.

well if the weather stays nice and warm and sunny for a few weeks straight id get this pos painted.

but i think your right, because i have not been pulled over for not having a front plate for like 2-3 months, and now all of a sudden after i have primer on my car i get pulled over!. im going to fight it anyways.

need to replace driver front door still and hoping to have my hood within the next week or so!

i already know you all are going to be like, " your car looks like shit do us a favor and run it into a tree" but its not going to happen, and im going to prove to everyone that i can make this car look good! even doing it the cheap ass way i am! just have alot of work to do!

yes i know im wasting alot of primer by putting it on and then sanding more. it was cheap primer im using to to show me where the defects are and where i need to sand more.

To be fair when I said you should run the POS into a tree, I was only commenting on what you should do if you somehow come up with the cash for an SRT.

IK dont take anything i say serious.lol i dont get mad at what ppl say on the internet , or in real life, my views and attitude about things are
" idc what ppl say, think or do, doesn't involve me idc, idc if someone likes me what i do or anything like that, all that matters is if i like what i am doing, i dont need to please anyone but myself"

now that has been said, the biggest reason why i am still working on this car is because i like a challenge, would be better if i had the money to fix it the right way, or if i had a welder , bc then i could have done a better job. but this will work for the time being.

and the gf said i cant get a srt-4, if i cant learn to not get tickets in my non turbo car , i cant get something like a srt-4 bc ill lose my license :(.... she even went as far as saying that she is going to take my neon away from me and get me something i cant speed in. ( she blames it on being a 5 speed) bc i only get pulled over and tickets in mtx cars, i have never had a ticket in a atx

:laughing3: thats funny...but cb on the cop thing thats just NY cops..nothing to do. Once I got pulled over and the cop told me that my car didnt come with a dual exhaust and that my stock brake lights were too red. No ticket as I laughed at him and he tol me watch myself.
