Neither

Palm Treo Pro.

I've owned about 6 phones this year, and my current Palm Treo Pro is by far the best.

I'll never buy a phone without a keypad ever again, and sliders and flip phones are junk.

Most of the reviews like to harp on the Keyboard being kinda small but I love the keyboard and I love this phone.

CNET gave the Palm Treo Pro the same rating as the G1, which is only a half star behind the iphone. I hated the Iphone though.

I have a G1 and a 2G iPhone on T-Mobile.

The G1 is good because it has the physical keyboard if you are a keyboard needing person. It's a little bulky but very doable. It's lighter and it can take being dropped and being abused better than an iPhone. But, Android is in it's infancy and it has it's pros and cons. Most people say con on the fact that it doesn't have nearly as many apps as the Apple App Store. Well, duh. But, there are supposedly more than a dozen Android phones about to hit the market here soon so it's tough to say where that will go.

The iPhone is awesome because of the free and paid apps, easy of use, and if you jailbreak it, it's full customisable. But so is the G1. The iPhone has the best screen of any cell phone out there bar none. It has the multitouch that only the Palm Pre has as well. The iPhone has the 3.5mm headphone jack. The G1 needs an adapter for that. So does the new MyTouch (when will they learn?)

Both have their pros and cons. Personally, it comes down to style and speed. As phones, they are both great. As entertainment devices, the iPhone wins because of the screen, the easier to use headphone jack and the vastly larger App Store. But, the G1 uses T-Mobile's 3G network. Unless you switch to AT&T, you are stuck using T-Mobile's EDGE network. It's plenty fast but not 3G fast. The 3Gs on AT&T's network is really quick. About twice as fast as my EDGE. But, it does a good enough job if you are checking the weather, sports scores and what not.

Both have crappy battery life so don't kid yourself there. Especially if you play with them alot, it will kill the battery. I wear mine on my iPhone down everyday. But I play alot of pinball and download apps, themes, etc. all day, everyday as well.

I would give the MyTouch (the G2 if you will) a run. It's all the same stuff you get in a G1 just smaller and thinner with no keyboard. If you like a physical keyboard, the G1 is decent but I have small hands and I hate the small keys for typing. I prefer my iPhone for that.
