I wanted to get rid of the resonator box and i took the top of the air box...the car sounds deep at around 2500 - 3000rpms sounds like im running on a V8, pretty cool but anyways am i in risk of damaging or screwing anything up by doing what i did?
here are pics:
and is this the resonator box? or did i remove something that i wasnt suppose to?

nope...that's the resonator box alright. heavy piece of junk aint it? this isn't an issue as everyone with a CAI has to remove it. You've pretty much got yourself a ghetto short ram setup there.

That would be one gross sounding V8 if that were true.
You aren't in danger of anything by removing the lid or the resonator. We could go on for pages and pages about "ZOMG DON'T REMOVEZ TEH LID!!1!" but in all seriousness, you won't hurt anything. It 'might' increase air temps, but you see the same thing with a hot intake manifold anyways.

well i drove around without it for sometime now, car sounds great..it even feels like i gained some hp. now im thinking, i gotta put some kind of a scoop at the bottom like an upside down hood scoop, to collect the cold air, cuz now i got one big empty space where the resonator was and a hole for the tube that was attached to the air box. good idea or no? or when winter comes it will become a shovel and break ): i think i just answered my own question
EDIT: Heres what i mean

If you want to do it affordably, just buy one of the ebay knock off cold air intakes for twenty bucks and it will put your filter down there for you...

An intake scoop won't help any, our engines don't flow enough air to benefit from one.
Upgrading the air box to fender tube is all you really need, I used a 2.5" pipe on mine. You can also drill holes in the bottom of the air box for a ghetto intake, it works quite well and doesn't suck in the hot air from the engine bay.
Taking the lid off the air box makes it sound awesome, but the low end power suffers a bit. Once you get above 4k rpms it pulls a little harder, but it's really not worth it to be honest.
Chrysler is pretty good about their intake designs so there really isn't much room to improve. A cold air intake that puts the filer in the wheel well is the only real upgrade worth the money, but the name brands charge way too much for the 3hp you might get.
EDIT: this is my 1200th reply, I guess I'm an official post whore now.

Taking the airbox lid off completely negates the effect of the (factory) cold air setup. Might sound cool but it sure isn't helping any.

ebay cold air intake with a nicer filter on it would do wonders. especially for the price.

Wouldn't it then suck in dirty air since you would be bypassing the air filter?

We have cone filters directly attached to the throttle body so it's not bypassing the filter. Look at the first post and you'll see what I mean.
The bottom of the air box lid extends down pretty far, so if you drill there it pulls in fresh air just above the transmission.

wow this topic has been discussed for several times. one more thing to improve on your car might be the k&n or aem or any brand high flow filter to get 1-2 hp more i think.

That scoop wouldn't do anymore than the opening on the front of the bumper cover.
Unless you are going to direct it right into the airbox it isn't going to do anything, and even then it's minimal.
Put the lid back on, put the elbow back in and call it a day.
