If your TCC circuit or switch is going bad, you would almost certainly get a CEL (Check Engine Light) and associated trouble code.

Basically, the T/C Lockup, "locks up" the converter when you are at a steady highway speed, to help increase gas mileage and keep the RPM's a little lower.

I'm not positive but I think the TCC Solenoid and the Lockup are two different parts. Back when I was researching my TCC Solenoid problem I saw people mention a $6 lockup part.

The TCC solenoid does have a CEL code, so if it were going bad then you should get one. I did!

As for symptoms, I dont quite remember what mine was doing, I think maybe sounding like it was driving in 2nd gear rather than 3rd.

True, they are separate.... the TCC solenoid controls the lockup.
